Pain Descendant/Solemn Tortured Apostle/2022 EP Review

 

  Pain  Descendant  are  a  solo  project  from  Portland,  Main  that  plays  an  atmospheric  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2022  ep  "Solemn  Tortured  Apostle".

  Wind  sounds  start  off  the  ep  along  with  some  keyboards  a  few  seconds  later  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  on  the  second  song.  A  couple  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  as  well  as  the  music  also  having  its  atmospheric  moments.

  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  riffs  also  have  their  repetitive  moments.  Clean  playing  is  also  added  on  the  closing  song  along  with  each  track  also  sounding  very  different  from  each  other  and  all  of  the  music  also  sticks  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction.

  Pain  Descendant  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  atmospheric  and  slow  sounding.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  depression  and  despair  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Pain  Descendant  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Apostle".  8  out  of  10.
