Goatchamber are a duo from Cleveland, Ohio that consists of members from Burial Oath and plays a native American themed mixture of war, black and death metal and this is a review of their self released 2022 ep "Primordial Khaos".
A very dark and distorted sound starts off the ep along with a brief use of demonic voices before going into a heavier direction. Vocals are a mixture of bestial growls and black metal screams while t he faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of war metal elements, tremolo picking and brutal blast b eats which also give the music more of a raw feeling.
Dark sounding melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Most of the tracks are also very short in length, the whole ep also sticks to a very heavy and brutal direction and when guitar leads are introduced on t he closing track they are done in a very chaotic style. .
Goatchamber plays a musical style that takes war and bestial black/death metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Native American Mythology and Warfare themes.
In my opinion Goatchamber are a very great sounding mixture of war and black/death metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check this duo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Purification Through Crucifixion" and "Primitive Warfare". 8 out of 10.
