Gravekeeper are a 1 man band from Ottawa, Canada that plays a very depressive form of black metal and this is a review of their self released and self titled 2013 demo.
Drums and programming ranges from slow to mid paced beats with not much in the way of fast playing or blast beats, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow to mid paced depressive black metal riffs that use some raw and primitive elements as well as a brief use of clean playing and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.
Vocals are all grim sounding and lower black metal screams that dont really go into high pitched mode, while the lyrics cover dark and depressive themes, as for the production it has a very lo-fi, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion Gravekeeper are a very great sounding raw and primitive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Just As In Life". RECOMMENDED BUY.
