Garden Gnome are a solo project from Denton, Texas that plays a mixture of atmospheric black metal and dungeon synth and this is a review of his 2023 ep "Phegnomenology Of Spirit" which will be released in October by Voices of the Ainur.
Dungron synth style synths start off the ep along with some programmed beats and grim black metal screams a few seconds later. At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding along with one track also adding in a small amount of demonic voices and the whole ep sticks to a slower direction.
Garden Gnome plays a musical style that takes atmospheric black metal and dungeon synth and mixes them together to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark while the lyrics cover gnome lore, fantasy, philosophy and politics.
In my opinion Garden Gnome is a very great sounding mixture of atmospheric black metal and dungeon synth and if you are a fan of those musical genre, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE " Phegnomenology Of Spirit" and "Getötet von der Dialektik". 8 out of 10.
