Ad Hominem are a solo project originally from France but now resides in Italy and plays a very raw and controversial form of black metal with some black'n'roll touches and this is a review of their 2018 album "Napalm For All" which will be released in April by Osmose Productions.
A very heavy, raw and brutal sound starts off the album along with a great amount of blast beats and high pitched screams while the faster sections of the songs use a decent amount of tremolo picking which also gives the songs a more raw feeling as well as some elements of black'n'roll.
Melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them along with some spoken word parts also being added into certain sections of the recording as well as the songs also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and as the album progresses a brief use of clean playing can also be heard.
Ad Hominem plays a style of black metal that is very raw and aggressive while the black'n'roll elements makes the songs stand out a lot more, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover genocide, war and anti Monotheism themes.
In my opinion Ad Hominen are a very great sounding raw and aggressive black metal band with a touch of black'n'roll and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "I Am Love" "Goatfucker" "Bomb The Earth" and "Vatican Gay". 8 out of 10.
