Listeriosis is a solo project from South Africa that plays a very raw and lo-fi form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2018 ep "Sickening".
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the ep before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats along with the vocals being mostly grim yet high pitched black metal s creams as well as the music bringing in a lo-fi atmosphere.
A mixture of both modern and old school influences can be heard in the music along with the music also adding in a small amount of slow mid tempo sections at times while the music avoids any use of guitar solos, leads or melody and at times the vocals bring in more of a depressive edge.
Listeriosis plays a style of black metal that is very raw and lo-fi sounding, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover dark and violent themes.
In my opinion Listeriosis are a very great sounding raw and lo-fi black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Sickening". 8 out of 10.
