Grok are a duo from Colorado that plays a very psychedelic and ambient form of occult black metal and this is a review of t heir 2017 ep "Sacred Fire Without Form" which was released as a joint effort between First Spell Productions and EEE Recordings.
Ambient style synths start off the ep along with some programmed drum beats and psychedelic elements a few seconds later which also mixes in the heavier sections of he music while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams as well as a great amount of bass leads.
When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard while all of the tracks are very long and epic in length along with the songs also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording as well the last two tracks being ambient instrumentasl.
Grok plays a musical style that takes occult black metal and mixes it with psychedelic and ambient elements to create something very different, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover occultism and metaphysical themes.
In my opinion Grok are a very great sounding ambient occult black metal duo, and if you are a fan of t his musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TACKS INCLUDE "Their Signs And Characters" and "Blood of The Finger Of Saturn". 8 out of 10.
