Volc Vermaledide are a duo originally from the Netherlands but now resides in Sweden that plays an epic form of black metal with elements of dungeon synth and this is a review of their 2021 album "Nietig" which was released by heidens Hart Records.
A very epic and dungeon synth orientated sound starts off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the music at times. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the riffs also add in a great amount of melody and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard.
When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the songs more of a raw feeling while angry sounding spoken word parts can also be heard on most of the tracks and also have their grim moments. Most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with one song also adding in a brief use of clean vocals.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some melodies also being added into the guitar riffing as well as the music also capturing the atmosphere of a fantasy movie soundtrack at times, the album also closes with an instrumental. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover grimness and loneliness themes.
In my opinion Volc Vermaledide are a very great sounding epic black metal duo with elements of dungeon synth and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Part. II Lost" and "We Shall Disappear". 8 out of 10.
