Orgrel Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

For years, we played just to fulfill our will. We searched for a language or a way to express and purge our souls. The world out there was falling down and the right answer came from black metal. Black metal with no finery or pollution. Just black metal. We needed and we still need it.

2.You have a new album coming out in October, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style that you went for on the recording?

In “Red Dragon’s Invocation” you can find a simple and basic sound. There is no jerking off. Black metal has to amplify our primitive sensations. The raw way is the right way.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored so far with the music?

According to the deception and the fall of this modern world, we want to indicate a way to resist and fight. Rage and despair, revenge and stoicism are our starting points.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Orgrel'?

Orgrel is just a name. Short and solid, the sound it produces when you pronounce is strong and rotten at the same time. Like the roar of an orc.

5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the album cover?

Red Dragon’s Invocation’s cover has been created by Luciana Nedelea. The painting perfectly expresses the image that the music created in our minds while we were composing the songs. What she did is pure art.

6.Do the cloaks in your promo pics have any ritualistic or occult meaning to them?

Cloaks, weapons, skulls, and all other items are symbols and images. Everything is a way to express a vision. And like words, symbols are the right way to do it. You can call them symbols, images, idols, forms, simulacra or icons but the meaning is the same: Awaken something hidden in people’s mind.

7.Has the band done any live shows or open to the idea?

We are open to the idea but it’s not our primary goal.

8.So far very little is known about the band, are you planning on expanding your presence in the future or do you prefer to keep a lower profile?

We have been in the deep underground for more than ten years. We need nothing. The only profile we live is, as you called it, the lower one. It could happen that our presence will be more effective but it’s not fundamental to us.

9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?

We see that true black metal fans always appreciate what is honest, raw and genuine. So, it seems that our stuff can be fuel for the burning apocalypse.

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

We will carry on. Our path is tough but it won't stop us. Head held high and may everything go wherever will be.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

the 90s black metal wave, that was the starting point and that's what we usually listen to.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Thanks for your questions and time. Summon the burning dragon!
