MX/Hass schürt Krieg/Wolfmond Production/2021 EP Review

 

  Germany's  solo  project  MX  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  raw  style  of  black  metal  from  their  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  ep  "Hass  schürt  Krieg"{  which  was  released  by  Wolfmond  Production.

  A  very  dark  synth  orientated  intro  and  war  samples  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  heavier  musical  direction.  Spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  war  samples  also  mix  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  and  as  the  ep  progresses  a brief  use  of  melodic  guitar  leads  can  also  be  heard.

  On  this  recording  MX  remains  true  to  the  raw  style  of  black  metal  that  they  have  established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  German  and  cover  war  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  MX  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  " Kriegsbeginn"  and  "Im  Schützengraben".  8  out  of  10.

MX/In Traum der Wirklichkeit/Wolfmond Production/2021 EP Review

 

  MX  are  a  duo  form  Germany  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  raw  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  ep  "In  Traum  der  Wirklichkeit"  which  was  released  by  Wolfmond  Production.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  90's  influences  and  the  guitar  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  distorted  style  when  they  are  utilized.

  Most  of  the  riffing  is  done  on  power  chords  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  heavier  edge  while  also  avoiding  the  use  of  any  melody.  The  bas  guitar  also  adds  in  a  very  dark  tone  along  with  all  of  the  music  also  sticking  to  more  of  a  raw  and  brutal  direction  as  well a s  sticking  to  mostly  a  faster  pace  and  only  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction.

  On  this  recording  MX  remains  true  to  the  raw  style  of  black  metal  that  they  had  establish  on  their  previous  release.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  German  and  cover  darkness,  blasphemy  and  suicidal  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  MX  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Weltsuizidförderungstag"  and  "In  Traum  der  Wirklichkeit".  8  out  of  10.

MX/Demo I/2020 Demo Review

 

  MX  are  a  band  from  Germany  that  plays  a  very  raw  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self released  2020  demo.

  A  very  fast,  raw  and  lo-fi  sound  starts  off  the  demo  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats. Vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  demonic  black  metal  screams  while  all  of  the  drum  beats  are  also  programmed  as  well  as  the  music  also  being  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  homemade  cassette  demo  style.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  parts  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  raw  style.  Synths  can  also  be  heard  in  the  background  briefly  along  with  one  of  the  tracks  also  adding  in  a  more  mid  90's  to  early  2000's  depressive  and  suicidal  vibe  and  most  of  the  riffing  is  done  on  power  chords.

  MX  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that is very  raw  and  lo-fi  in  the  90's  demo  tape  tradition.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  a  mixture  of  English  and  German  and  cover  dark  themes.

  In  my  opinion  MX  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  demo.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Mein  Reich"  "Scream"  and  "Sacrifice". 8out  of  10.
