Monde Celeste/Untitled Album/2013 Full Length Review

  This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  Monde  Celeste  which  continues  their  hybrid  sound  of  post  black  metal  and  shoegaze  with  the  album  being  untitled  and  self  released  in  2013.

  "Unnamed  Track  I"  starts  off  with  clean  guitar  playing  before  the  sound  effects  and  heavy  post  black  metal  guitar  riffs  kick  in  which  leads  to  the  drum  programming  and  quiet  grim  screams  along  with  some  synths  and  the  screams  get  more  louder  and  depressive  as  the  song  moves  on  and  when  the  song  already  has  3  minutes  the  clean  parts  return  while  keeping  the  screams  and  after  awhile  the  song  gets  silent  for  a  few  seconds  and  returns  with  semi  heavy  melodic  guitar  riffing.

  "Unnamed  Track  II"  starts  off  with  brief  clean  playing,  before  the  programmed  beats,  heavy  guitar  riffs,  shoegaze/post  rock  synths  and  depressive  scream  kick  in  and  after  a  few  minutes  the  heavy  parts  leave  the  music  for  a  few  seconds  while  the  screams  stay  around  going  for  more  of  a  traditional  post  sound  before  going  to  the  heavy  and  melodic  parts  after  a  couple  of  minutes.

  "Unnamed  Track  III"  starts  off  with  some  slow,  dark  black  metal  guitar  riffs,  before  the  synths,  programming  and  screams  kick  in  with  the  music  going  slightly  more  into  a  faster  and  more  black  metal  direction  while  keeping  the  post  rock  elements  and  then  the  music  gets  really  soft  and  clean  singing  makes  its  presence  known  in  the  song  while  also  keeping  the  screams  along  with  some  melodic  guitar  playing  while  also  slowly  going  back  to  a  heavier  sound.

  "Unnamed  Track  IV"  starts  off  with  some  acoustic  guitar  playing  which  utilizes  finger  picking  which  sets  up  the  pace  for  the  programmed  beats  and  as  the  song  moves  in  melodic  guitar  leads  and  screams  make  their  way  into  the  music  before  getting  soft  and  adding  in  the  clean  singing  which  leads  to  heavier  guitar  riffs  while  retaining  the  melody  as  well  as  switching  back  and  forth  between  soft  and  heavy  parts  throughout  the  rest  of  the  song.

  "Unnamed  Track  V"  starts  off  acoustic  guitar  playing  which  has  post  rock  elements  in  it  which  leads  to  the  programmed  beats,  slow,  dark  and  heavy  black  metal  guitar  riffs  along  with  the  high  pitched  screams  while  also  having  shoegaze  sounds  in  the  background  before going  into  a  more  melodic  direction  while  still  maintaining  the  screams  and  heavy  parts  and  then  the  music  starts  adding in  some  clean  singing  chants.

  Song  lyrics  cover  dark  and  depressive  themes,  while  the  production  has  a  very  strong  and  powerful  sound  for  being  a  self  released  recording  with  the  songs  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Monde  Celeste  which  sounds  alot  darker  than  their  past  material  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  post  black  metal  mixed  with  shoegaze,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "II"  and  "V".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.

Monde Celeste/Nocturnal Spirits, Haunting Walls/2013 Full Length Review

  Monde  Celeste  are  a  band  from  Sweden  that  plays  a  mixture  of  lo-fi,  post  black  metal  and  shoegaze  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2012  album  "Nocturnal  Spirits,  Haunting  Walls".

  "I"  starts  off  with  drum  beats  and  slow  post  black  metal  riffs  which  leads  to  some  quiet  black  metal  vocals  which  get  louder  as  the  song  moves  on  mixing  in  some  melodic  guitar  leads
along  with  some  clean  singing  and  spoken  word  parts  and  the  song  closes  with  some  shoegaze  elements  being  added  in.

  "II"  starts  off  with  drum  programming  and  clean  playing  from  the  guitars  which  sets  up  the  mood  for  some  clean  singing  vocals  while  also  adding  in  guitar  riffs  that  combine  black  metal,  lo-fi  and  shoegaze  along  with  black  metal  screams  and  melodic  post  rock  guitar  leads  while  still  retaining  the  softer  elements.

  "III"  starts  off  with  some  gothic/post  rock  sounding  synths  and  drum  programming  before  the  black  metal  riffs  and  screams  make  their  way  in  the  song  as  well  as  the  melodic  guitar  leads  for  a  few  moments  before  reverting  back  to  the  softer  and  atmospheric sounds.

  "Iv"  starts  off  with  drum  programming  and  clean  post  rock  guitar  playing  along  with  clean  singing  shoegaze  vocals  which  leads  to  the  heavier  riffing  and  depressive  black  metal  screams  before  going  into  a  more  distorted  but  clean  direction  as  well  as  maintaining  the  screams  and  mixing  in  melodic  guitar  solos.

  "V"  starts  off  with  drum  machines,  post  rock  synths  and  strong  bass  lines  until  the  slow,  heavy  guitar  riffs  and  screams  make  their  way  into  the  song  as  well  as  the  melodic  and  atmospheric  sounding  guitar  solo  which  leads  to  some  clean  singing.

  "VI"  starts  off  programmed  beats,  post  rock  style  guitar  riffs  with  clean  elements  in  the  background  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  and  adding  in  depressive  sounding  growls,  screams  and  cries  along  with  melodic  guitar  leads  while  still  retaining  the  clean  ambient  elements.

  "VII"  starts  off  with  programmed  beats  and  post  metal  guitar  riffs  which  lead  to the  depressive  black  metal  vocals  and  as  the  song  moves  in  the  clean  parts  and  melodic  guitar  leads  make  their way  into  the  song .

  "VII"  starts  of  with  the  programmed  beats,  shoegaze  riffing  and  clean  singing  along  with  melodic  post  rock  guitar  leads  which  speed  the  song  up  to  a  more  mid  paced  direction  while  still  slowing  down  at  times  and  around  the  3  minute  mark  the  song  is  silent  for  a  few  seconds  before  the  music  makes  it's  return.

  "IX"  starts  off  with  the  programmed  beats,  shoegaze  style  riffs  and  clean  singing  befoe  mixing  in  some  melodic  post  rock  guitar  parts  and  the  song  does  not  have  much  of  a  change  in  the  way  of  pace.

  Song  lyrics  on  the  album  cover  dark  themes,  while  the  production  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  dark  and  lo-fi  sound  for  being  a  self  released  recording.

  In  my  opinion  Monde  Celeste  are  a  very  great  sounding  hybrid  of  post  black  metal,  lo-fi  and  shoegaze  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "I"  "IV"  and  "VI".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
