1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording of the new album?
We have finished recording in March. It took us 10 days. Then we've been waiting for mixes for a few months. Since then we found a label – Czarna Dzika Czerwień will be released on 18 February by Pagan Records. We’ve played a few gigs, one of them on festival in Poland. Also we have a few new songs. We are still working hard in the rehearsal room ;)
2. Recently, you have put out a new album, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical direction it has taken and also how does it differ from your past releases?
Probably all of the bands are saying that they want to do something special that was not recorded before. We also tried to that. Our main goal was to create music that will take listeners to different dimension. It was whole concept: our photo session, our video (not released yet), our lyrics and music. Check out our pictures - I think it's really good illustration of Czarna Dzika Czerwień. Gloomy, strange and beautiful landscapes. We tried to take our listeners to that place –full of mysteries and demons.
3. The band was broken up for 9 years, what was the cause of the split and the decision to reform?
Actually, band was never disbanded. After Popiol , I’ve recorded a few demos but never released them. You can find them on youtube if you want. I couldn't find a proper person to join me. In the end i've met Peter and together we recorded Signum.
4. According to the Metal Archives page, the band is originally from Poland but recently re located to Ireland, what made you decide to relocate to another country?
Economic situation in Poland. All of us met here in Dublin where we had a fresh start.
5. Since 2005 there have only been 2 albums and a demo, what was the cause of the gaps?
First all of us have to had find our musical language. We tried to create something new and that takes time. Our album Wschód – our first one with the new lineup was far from perfect. We tried to improve all what we didn't like and that also took a lot of time. In the end we’ve never officially released, it remains a demo.
6. The lyrics cover a lot of Paganism themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your Pagan views?
It's even hard to tell what paganism is, would you agree? The scene is full of band which claims that they playing pagan metal. In most of the cases it means that they are using flutes or some other folk instruments and singing about ancient gods. That's not our way. For us paganism is being close to the nature. To be in harmony with yourself.
7. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Thy Worshiper'?
Author of that name is Capricornus from Graveland. It was in early 90's. So you could imagine that first meaning was the most extreme one... To be honest I think that his inspiration was first Samael’s album Worship Him.
8 .What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?
In the 90s our best gig was with Vader in Poland. We didn't played too many gigs so almost every one was special for us. In Dublin we are playing much more often. Among recent ones - maybe with Cruachan for their 20th anniversary? Our performance? A few stoned shamans and one witch ;)
9. Do you have any touring or show plans for the new album?
There will be few gigs and festivals in future that we will play. But none of them is confirmed at the moment.
10. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal and pagan music?
We received good feedback and we are really surprised! We thought that no one will understand our music but reviews are amazing. The guys who listened to the album pay attention to these parts of our music that are really important for us. Maybe that means that people are bored with predictable music.
11. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?
We already composed few songs. Our next album will be more groovy and more shamanistic than CDC. As always, we are trying new things.
12. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
As a teeneger I was a maniac of thrash then death then black metal. So that Music is still in my blood. But nowadays I can't and none of us can listen to much metal. Most modern albums are just boring. Bands are playing the same stuff like 20 years ago. But back then everyone at least tried to be original. Now? Labels like bands which playing like other popular bands. The same story with the most listeners. Where are all these people for who the music is like an adventure? Like a journey to discover new worlds?
13. Outside of music what are some of your interests?
Every of us had a bit different interests. Ania is a digital disigner, Grabaż is a sculptor, Tomasz is a kung fu master, Marshall is a mountaineer and Darek likes dogs.
14. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
