Dakhma/Hamkar Atonement/Iron Bonehead Productions/2018 CD Review

  Switzerland's  Dakhma  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  their  bestial  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "Hamkar  Attonement"  which  will  be  released  in  September  by  Iron  Bonehead  Productions.

  A  very  dark  sound  along  with  some  ritualistic  chanting  and  drum  beats  starts  off  the  album  while  the  vocals  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  grim  black  metal  screams  and  after  awhile  the  music  starts  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  direction  as  well  as  most  of  the  tracks  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking,  blast  beats  and  war  metal  elements  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  along  with  some  bestial  growls  also  being  utilized  at  times  as  well  as  the  tracks  also  bringing  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  being  done  in  a  very  chaotic  style,  they  also  bring  in  a  track  which  also  introduces  middle  eastern  folk  instruments  onto  the  recording  and  as  the  album  progresses  death  metal  influenced  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  added  into  the  music.

  On  this  recording  Dakhma  takes  their  bestial  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal  and  takes  it  into  more  of  a  ritualistic  direction,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Zoroastrian  Rituals  and  Afterlife  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Dakhma  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  ritual,  war,  black  and  death  metal, you  should  check  out  this  album<  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Akhoman  (Spill  The  Blood)"  "Spendarmad  (Holy  Devotion)"  and  "...Of  Great  Prophets".  8/5  out  of  10.

Dakhma/Passageways To Daena (The Concimitant Blessings Of Putrescing Impurity)/Godz Ov War Productions/2016 CD Review

  Dakhma   are  a  solo  project  from  Switzerland  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  mixture  of  black,  war  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2016  album  "Passageways  To Daena  (The  Concimitant Blessings  Of  Putrescing  Impurity)"  which  will  be  released  in  My  by  Godz  Ov  War  Productions.

  Night  sounds  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  elements  of  ambient  and  drone  which  also  leads  up  to  some  melodic  leas,  blast  beats  and  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  the  riffs  are  also  very  raw  and  use  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  bestial  death  metal  growls  can  also  be  heard at  times.

  Elements  of  war  metal  are  present  throughout  the  recording  while  some  of  the  screams  have  a  depressive  tone  to  them  and  throughout  the  recording  there  is  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  90's  influences  and  all of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  When  solos  and  leads   make  a  return  go  back  to  an  old  school  style  of  black/death  metal  and  as  the  album  progresses  the  music  starts  getting  more ritualistic  at  times  along  with  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing  before  returning  back  to  a  heavier  direction  and  there  are  certain  sections  of  the  recording  where  the  music  sounds  more  modern  and  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of  melodic  occult  chanting  and  some  of  the  tracks a re  long  and  epic  in  length  and  they  also  bring  in  a  cover  of Bathory's  "Call  From  The  Grave"  and  the  last  track  also  gets  very  tribal  and  shamanistic.

  Dakhma  creates  another  recording  that  mixes  black,  death  and  war  metal  together  while  also  being  very  ritualistic  and  experimental  at  times,  the  production  sounds  very  dark,  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  Zoroastrian  rituals  and  afterlife.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Dakhma  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  the  raw,  bestial  and  ritualistic  sides  of  black,  death  and  war  metal,  you  should c heck  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Baseashnum  (Defiled  By  Dark  Flesh)"  "Chinvat  (Ascension  III  -  Agony"  and  "The  Silent tower  (Gather  ye  of  Life)'.  8/5  out  of  10.

Dakhma/Astiwhad-Zohr/Godz Ov War Productions/2016 EP Review

 Dakhma  are  a  solo  project  from  Switzerland  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2016  ep  "Astiwihad-Zohr"  which  was  released  by  Gods  Ov  War  Productions.

  A  very  dark  and  raw  bestial  blackened  death  metal  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  some  blast  beats,  grim   screams  and  demonic  growls  and  the  music  also  bring s in  a  raw  90's  influenced  style  of  war  metal  at  times  and  most  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  you  can  also hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording.

  Morbid  sounding  melodies can  be  heard  in  some  of  the  riffing  while  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and the  solos  and  leads  also  remain  true  to  a  chaotic  style  of  death  metal  and  the  music  also  gets  very  ritualistic  at  times  along  with  a  small  amount  of  chanting  and  melodic vocals  and  you  can  also  hear  a  touch  of  doom/death  in  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs.

  Dakhma  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  a  very  raw  and  bestial  form  of  black/war  metal  and  mixes  it  with  death  metal  to  create  a  very  heavy  and  ritualistic  sounding  recording  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Zoroastrian  Rituals  and  Afterlife  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Dakhma  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  bestial  black/death  and  war  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  solo  project.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Procession(Feed  From  the  Skull)"  and  "Altar(Flesh  Upon  Me)".  8/5  out  of  10.
