Wayfarer/American Gothic/Century Media Records/2023 Full Length Review

Denver,  Colorado's  Wayfarer  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  mixture  of  atmospheric  post  black  metal,  gothic  country  and  Americana  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2023  album  "American  Gothic"  which  will  be  released  on  October  27  by  Century  Media  Records.

Acoustic  guitars  which  also  return  on  later  songs  start  off  the  album  and  also  brings  in  elements  of  Americana  and  country  music,  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  a  lot  of the  guitar  riffing  and  the  vocals  bring  in  a  mixture  of  growls  and  black  metal  screams.

All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  some  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  post  metal  style  and  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats.

Keyboards  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  When  tremolo  picking  is  added  into  the  faster  riffing  they  also  give  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling,  clear  vocals  are  also  introduced  on  some  of  the  tracks.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  dark  side  of  the  American  Dream.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Wayfarer  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Thousand  Tombs  Of  Western  Promise"  "To  Enter  My  House  Justified"  and  "False  Constellation".  8  out  of  10.

Western  music  style  keyboards  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  viola's  a  few  seconds  later  before  going  into  a  heavier  musical  direction. All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the vocals being  mostly  deep  yet  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams.

A  great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody.  When  the  music  speeds up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking  can  be  heard  which also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  the  music  also  adds  in  a  decent  amount  of  post  metal  elements.

When  acoustic  guitars  are  utilized  they  also  bring  in  influences  of  American  onto  the   recording  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow, mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  At  times  the  music  also  captures  the  atmospheric  side  of  the  cascadian  style  as  well  as  the  guitar  leads  and  solos  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  when  they  are  utilized.

Clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  on  some  of  the  tracks  as  well  as  a  couple  of  tracks  also  adding  in  some  synths.  One  song  also introduces  clean  vocals  onto  the  album  along  with  a  brief  use  of  psychedelic  touches,  the  vocals  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  growls,  as  the  album  progresses  a  brief  instrumental  can  also  be heard.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the lyrics  cover  the  history  of  the  wild  west.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Wayfarer  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric,  cascadian, post  black  metal  and  Americana,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Crimson  Rider"  "Masquerade  Of  The  Gunslingers"  and  "Vaudeville".  8  out  of  10.

Wayfarer/World's Blood/Profound Lore Records/2018 CD Review

Wayfarer  are  a  band  from  Denver,  Colorado  that  plays  a  very  atmospheric  and  cascadian  influenced  form  of  black  metal  with  some  touches  of  folk  and  Americana  music  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "World's  Blood"  which  will  be  released  on  May  25th  by  profound  Lore  Records.

Clean  yet  distorted  guitars  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  drum  beats  a  few  seconds  alter  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  the  riffs  also  use  a  great  amount  of  melody  as  well  as  the  vocals  being  mostly  black  metal  screams  which  also  get  deep  at  times  and when  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can b e  heard.

All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  cleaner  sections  and  acoustic  guitars  also  mixing  in  elements  of  Americana  as  well  as  most  of  the  tracks  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length,  when  tremolo  picking  is  used  during  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  it  also  gives  the  music  more  of  raw  feeling  and  the  music  also  adds  in  touches  of  post  metal and  clean  vocals  are  added  onto  the  closing  song.
