Isolert/Wounds Of Desolation/Non Serviam Records/2024 Full Length Review

 

  Greece's  Isolert  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  raw,  melodic  and  misanthropic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of t heir  2024  album  "Wounds  Of  Desolation"  which  will be  released  in  September  by  Non  Serviam  Records.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  melody.  Angry  shouts  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  the  music  being  heavily  rooted  in the  old  school  era  as  well  as  being  very  modern  at  the  same  times,  a  couple  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  synths  and  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

  On  this  recording  Isolert  brings  out  a  very  raw,  aggressive,  melodic  and  misanthropic  style  of  black  metal.  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  misanthropy,  death,  hatred  and  metaphysical  themes.    

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Isolert  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw,  melodic  and  misanthropic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  End  Of  Beauty"  "Children  Of  the  Void"  and  "Reflections  Of  Nothingness".  8  out  of  10.

Human Serpent/Isolert/Everything Dies/Death Prayer Records/2022 Collaboration EP Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  ep  between  Greece's  Human  Serpent  and  Isolert  that  shows  them  teaming  up  together  and  mixing  their  own  styles  of  raw  and  misanthropic  black  metal  together  and  the  ep  was  released  in  2017  by  Death  Prayer  Records  and  called  "Everything  Dies".

  High  pitched  black  metal  screams  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  utiliz3es  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  The  only  track  that  is  presented  on  the  recording  is  also  over  20  minutes  in  length  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Angry  shouts  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  the  song  also  adds  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Depressive  touches  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  screams  along  with  the  music  also  having  its  repetitive  moments  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies,  when  guitar  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  yet  old  school  style  and  the  whole  track  sticks  to  a  very  heavy  and  raw  direction,  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  towards  the  end.

  On  this  recording  Isolert  and  Human  Serpent  takes  both  of  their  raw  and  misanthropic  approaches  and  mixes  them  together  to  c5reate  a  very  heavy,  fast  and  aggressive  recording.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and r aw  while  the  lyrics  cover  misanthropy  and  death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  collaboration  from  Human  Serpent  and  Isolert  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  misanthropic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  8out  of  10.

  Greece's  Isolert  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  raw  and  misanthropic  style  of  black  metal  from  their  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  album  "Worlds  In  Ruins"  which  will  be  released  in  November  by  Nihilistische  KlangKunst.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  music  also  captures  the  raw  aggression  of  the  old  school  era  but  keeping  it  modern  at  the  same  time.  Angry  sounding  shouts  can  also  be  heard  in  some  parts  of  the  recording  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Some  of  the  tracks  also  introduces  clean  playing  onto  the  recording along  with   a  couple  of  the  songs  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length,  as  the  album  progresses  a  brief  use  of  female  vocals  and  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  misanthropy,  death,  metaphysical  and  death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Isolert  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw,  melodic  and  misanthropic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Fire,  Ash,  Blood"  "Extinction"  and  "World  in  Ruins".  8  out  of  10.

Isolert/Self Titled/Liver Damage Records/Ogmios Underground/2017 EP Review

  Greece's  Isolert  have  returned with  a  new  recording  that  continues  the  raw  and  melodic  style  of  black  metal  from  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  titled  2017  ep  which  will  be  released  on  cassette  in  April  by  Liver  Damage  Records  and  on  cd  in  summer  time  from  Ogmios  Records.

   Distorted  guitar  riffs  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  along  with  some  grim  black  metal  screams  a  few  seconds  later  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording.

  Deep  growls  can  be  heard  in  some  parts  of t he  songs  along  with  the  riffs  also  using  a  great  amount  of  melody  while  the  music  also  brings  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  second  wave  era  and  some  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  ar e  done  in  a very  melodic  fashion  and  the  music  also  always  remains  very  heavy  and  they  close  the  ep  with  a  cover  of  Slayer's  "Evil  Has  No  Boundaries".

  Isolert  creates  another  recording  that  remains  true  to  the  raw  and  melodic  style  of  black  metal  from  previous  releases,  the  production  sounds  very  dark, r aw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics cover  misanthropy,  death,  metaphysical  and  hate  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Isolert  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  melodic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Isolert"  "Depression  Crawls  In  Mankind's  Cage".  8  out  of  10.

Isolert/No Hope No Light...Only Death/Ogmios Underground/2016 CD Review

  Isolert  are  a  band from Greece  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  melodic  form  of  black  metal  and this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  album  "No  Hope,  No  Light...Only  Death"  which  will  be  released  in  May  by  Ogmios   Underground.

  Clean  guitar  playing  starts off  the  album  along with  some  synths  in  the  background  which  leads  up  to  a  heavier musical  direction  which  also  uses  dark  sounding  melodies  and  after  the  intro  spoken  word  parts  are  used  briefly  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having   a  very  powerful   sound  to  them.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  faster  sections  using  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  and  the  music  has  a  90's  second  wave  feeling  and  the  vocals  also  get  melodic at  times.and  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of  whispers  and  the  solos  and  leads  the  band  uses  are  done  in  a  very  melodic fashion  and  spoken word  samples  are  also used  on  the  other  songs  as  well  and  clean  playing  also  makes  e  return on  a  later track  before  returning  back  to  a  heavier  direction  while synths  return  on the last  track  which  is  also very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Isolert  creates  another  raw  black  metal  recording  that  is  very  rooted  in  the  90's  second  wave  tradition  while  also  getting   more  melodic  this  time,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  misanthropy,  death,  metaphysical  and  hate  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Isolert and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  melodic black  metal,  you  should  check  out this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Your  Hypocrisy"  and  "The  Dance  Of  Tormented  Spirits".  8  out  of  10.

Isolert Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
We are a Black Metal band from Volos,Greece.Our band consist of 2 members (Nick Sidiropoulos,Panagiotis Tsiglifis) We were formed on March 2015.


2.Recently you have released a demo, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?
The production is more "clear" from many Black Metal bands.We are inspired by the Scandinavian Scene of the 90's but we putt  our own personal touch to the music.We didn't want to copy other bands so we tried hard and put all our effort and make our own sound.We even have Byzantine Vocals on 1 song....We want some variety in our music.


3.The band has been around since the beginning of 2015 and already have released a demo, do the band members put a great  amount of time and effort into this musical project?
We may have been a new band but we have worked for many hours for our demo.In one month we put a great amount of effort and tried our best.Many hours of rehearsing.recording,mixing,mastering.At that point we would like to say thank you to "Fiende" who helped us out with the recordings of the demo.The production is by him and Isolert.





4.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
First we would like to say thank you to Jason Kasioptas for his lyrics.The lyrics are inspired by misanthropy and darkness.Just that.




5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Isolert'?
First off all we wrote our songs and the lyrics and then we were searching for a good name.Many names were in the list but we wanted to find something unique.We came accross Isolert which means Isolated in Norwegian.The inspiration comes from all of us as humans.We are people isolated in our own souls and we all hide our secrets..



6.Currently there are only 2 members in the band, are you planning on expanding the line up in the future or do you chose to remain a duo?
There are many great things on remaining a duo.When you are only two members in a band you can understand each other. Our cooperation is great with Panos and we just didn't want to add another member cause we didn't find someone willing to join the band and work as hard as we do.So i guess we will be only two members.But only time knows....



7.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?
We are in search for a label but the good news is that Labels from Europe and American have shown interest in our demo and we have received some offers to release our demo on Cassette and CD and recently we came in contact with Depressive Illusions  and they agreed to release the demo on cassette.





8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?
So far the feedback has been great and we didnt expected it because we just uploaded our first songs and we are a band only for 1 Month.It's a good start i guess..






9.When can we expect a full length album and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
The next step for the band is a split album or even an EP. If everything will go according to the plan we will release our first full length album on Spring 2016.We already are working on songs for it.





10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
The main influence is Gorgoroth i think and you can hear it on our songs .But we also love Dissection, Darkthrone,Carpathian Forest, Burzum,Mayhem and almost everything from the Scandinavian Scene.
Personally i am a big fan of US Power Metal and these days i listen to the new Sacral Rage album which is FUCKIN AWESOME!Also the new Empire of the Moon album is awesome.





11.What are some of your non musical interests?
Just drinking beers and going hiking .. We are boring guys (hahaha).




12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
We just wanted to say that the demo we released is dedicated to our brother Christoforos "Oliva" Ntinos
who passed away February 2015.

  Isolert  are  a  duo  from  Greece  that  plays  a  very  raw,  old  school  and  Nordic  influenced  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released 2015  demo  "Isolated  Soul".

  A  very  raw  and  dark  sound  starts  off  the  demo  along  with  some  grim  black  metal  screams  and  a  small  amount  of  melody  and  after  awhile  the  music  starts  to  speed  up  a  bit  and  also  bring  in  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  and  the  songs  are  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  and  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  band  also  brings  in  a  small  amount  of  whispers  and  clean  singing  at  times  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  good  mixture  of  both  Scandinavian  and  Greek  black  metal  influences  and  also  have  a  sound  that  would  of  went  over  very  well  20  years  ago  and  you  can  also  hear  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing  in  certain  sections of  the  recording  and  the  last  song  also  brings  in  a  brief  use  of  melodic  guitar  leads.

  Isolert  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  grim,  old  school  and  raw  and  also  has  a  very  vintage  second  wave  sound  to  them,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  misanthropic  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Isolert  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw,  old  school  and  Nordic  influenced  black  metal  duo  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  demo.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Empty  Memory  (Hatred  For  Mankind)".  8  out  of  10.
