Skjult/A Perfect Devouring Light/Satanath Records/The End of Time Records/2026 Full length Review

  Cuba's  solo  project  Skjult  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  more  of  a    raw  and  melodic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2026  album  "A  Perfect  Devouring  Light"  which  was  released  as  a  joint  effort  between  Satanath  and  The  End  of  Time  Records.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  old  school  era  of  the  genre  and  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  The  album  also  adds  in  a  lot  o  modern  touches  along  with  some  of  the  tracks  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length,  spoken  words  and  shouts  can  also  be  on  a  few  songs   and  the  whole  album  sticks  to  a  heavier  direction.

  On  this  recording  Skjult  brings  out  a  very  aggressive,  raw  and  melodic  style  of  black  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  death,  darkness,  light,  visions  and  occultism  themes.     

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Skjult  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  melodic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Antagonist  Am  I"  "The  Light  Within  The  Darkness"  and  "Esu".  8  out  of  10.

Skjult/Lucifer Hominum Salvator/Satanath Records/2020 CD Review

  Skjult  are  a  solo  project  from  Cuba  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  a  very  raw  and  melodic  form  of  occult  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  album  "Lucifer  Hominum  Salvator"  which  was  released  by Satanath  Records.

  Dark  sounding  melodies  start  off  the  album  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams.

  Most  of  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  second  wave  tradition  without  sounding  outdated while  the  tremolo  picking  in  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  Most  of  the  tracks  are  also  long  and  epic  in  length  as  well  as  the  guitar  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style  when  they  are  utilized,

  Growls  are  also  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording  along  with  one  of  the  tracks  also  being  an  instrumental  and  also  introducing  acoustic  guitars  onto  the  album  as  well  as  some  ritualistic  elements  also  being  brought  intro  the  music  on  a  interlude  before  returning  back  to  a  heavier  direction  and  latter  songs  also  adds  in  clean  playing,  whispers,  melodic  vocals  and  spoken  word  parts.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Luciferian,  Death  and  Vision  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Skjult  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  occult  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Lawless  God"  "A  Star  Down  Below"  and  "Lvcifer  Hominum  Salvator".  8  out  of  10.

Skjult/Progenies Ov Light/Satanath Records/Black Metal Propaganda Deutschland/2018 CD Review

  Skjult  are  a  solo project  from  Cuba  that  plays  a  very  raw  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2018  album  "Progenies  Ov  Light"  which  was  released  as  a  joint  effort  between  Satanath  Records  and  Black  Metal  Propaganda  Deutschland.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  black  metal  screams  as  well  as  the  music  being  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  and  all  of t he  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  spoken  words  are  also  used  briefly  along  with  a  later  song  being  long  and  epic  in  length  as  well  as  all  of  the  riffing  being  done  on  power  chords  and  on  the  closing  track  a  small  amount  of  guitar  leads  and  melody  can  be  heard.

  Skjult  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw  and  traditional  in  the  90's  era  of  the  genre,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  death,  Satanism,  and  visions  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Skjult  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Into  The  Void"  "Glorious  Night"  and  "Baptized  By  The  Unholy  Goat".  8  out  of  10.
