Nekrospell/Demo III/2013 Review

This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  Nekrospell  which  continues  his  fast,  raw  and  atmospheric  black  metal  sound  with  his  3rd  demo  being  self  released  in  2013.

The  demo  starts  out  with  an  intro  that  has  a  very  heavy  and  dark  sound  to  it  along  with  traces of  doom  metal  and  melodic  leads  before  adding  in  spoken  word  parts  which  also  takes  the  music  into  a  faster  black  metal  direction.

After  the  intro  the  music  goes  into  a  more  slow  and  depressive  black  metal  direction  along  with  grim  vocals  before  adding  in  fast  parts  while  also  keeping  the  melodic  leads  of  the  intro  and  the  music  also  has  a  mixture  of  both  fast  and  slow  parts  which  the  brings  out  in  all  of  the  songs  that  are  present  on  this  recording  and  the  last  song  brings  in  more  atmospheric  elements  as  well  as  a  small  amount  of  acoustic  guitars  before  returning  to  a  faster  direction  and  during  the  last  few  seconds  melodic  vocals  are  added  in  briefly.

With  this  demo  Nekrospell  slow  the  music  down  a  bit  and  the  music  takes  a  more  dark,  melodic  and  depressive  direction  while  the  fast  parts  are  still  brought  into  the  music  on  a  regular  basis  and  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  demo  for  the  black  metal  genre.

Song  lyrics  cover  darkness  and  occultism  themes,  while  the  production  has  a  very  dark,  raw  and  heavy  sound  to  it  along  with  one  of  the  songs  being  long  and  epic  in  length.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  demo  from  Nekrospell  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  atmospheric  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Path  Through  Arkhanic  Rituals"  and  "Land  Of  Black  Lakes".  8/5  out  of  10.

Nekrospell/Demo II/2013 Review

Nekrospell  are  a  1  man  band  from  Spain  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  before  that  his  a  very  raw  and  atmospheric  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2013  second  demo.

The  demo  starts  out  with  a  very  dark  sound  and  a  minute  later  the  music  goes into  a  more  fast  and  raw  black  metal  direction  along  with  blast  beats  as  well  as  mixing  slow  and  fast  parts  together.

On  the  following  track  grim  screams  and  vocals  are  added  into  the  music  as  well  as  bringing  in  clean  sections  a  few  minutes  later  for  a  few  seconds  before  returning  to  a  heavier  and  darker  direction  and  as  the  demo  progresses  you  can  hear  more  melody and  depressive  elements  being  added  into  the  music  and  start  mixing  in  with  the  more  fast  and  raw  parts  of  the  demo.

With  this  ep  Nekrospell  show  a  bit  of  diversity  with  the  way  he  mixes  in  fast  and  raw  black  metal  with  some  more  slow,  melodic,  atmospheric  and  depressive  parts  while  mostly  sticking  to  a  faster  style  and  this  recording  is  another  great  example  of  true  black  metal  the  way  it  showed  be  played.

Song  lyrics  cover  darkness  and  occultism  themes,  while  the  production  has  a  very  dark,  raw,  heavy  and  old  school  sound  to  it  along  with  one  of  the  songs  being  long  and  epic  in  length.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Nekrospell  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric,  fast  and  raw  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  demo.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Cryptic  Voices"  adn  "Darkened  Path".  8/5  out  of  10.

Drums  range  from  slow  to  mid  paced  playing  to  fast  drumming  wit h some  blast  beats  being  utilized  at  times,  while  the  synths  when  they  are  utilized  bring  a  very  dark  and  atmospheric  sound  to  the  music,  as  for  the  bass  playing  it  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  black  metal  riffs  that  are  very  dark,  atmospheric,  raw  and  primitive  sounding  along  with  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing  and  there  are  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on  this  recording.
