CMPT/Na utrini/Osmose Productions/2024 Full Length Review

 

  Serbia's  solo  project  CMPT  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  raw  and  atmospheric  form  of  pagan  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2024  album  "Na  utrini"  which  will  be  released  in  December  by  Osmose  Productions.

  Nature  orientated  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  folk  instruments  which  also  return  in  certain  parts  of  the  album  a  few  seconds  later  before  introducing  clean  playing  onto  the  recording.  Some  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  some  melodies  also  being  added  into  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with  the  synths  also  giving  the  music  more  of  an  atmospheric  feeling  when  they  are  added  onto  the  album.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  while  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  One  of  the  tracks  is  also  an  instrumental  and  the  album  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  classic  Eastern  European  tradition  as  well  as  one  song  also  introducing  clear  pagan  vocals  onto  the  recording  and  the  cd  version  also  has  a  Darkthone  cover  as  the  bonus  track.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Serbian  and  cover  Balkan  Paganism  and  Folklore.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  CMPT  and  if  you  are a  fan  of  raw  and  atmospheric  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Na  utrini"  "Campus  de  Maxond"  and  "Kao  srp  u  noci".  8  out  of  10.

CMPT/Krv i pepeo/Osmose Productions/2021 Full Length Review

 

  CMPT  are  a  solo  project  from  Serbia  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  raw  and  atmospheric  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2021  album  "Krv  i  pepeo"  which  will  be  released  in  December  by  Osmose  Productions.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Atmospheric  sounding  synths  can  also  be  heard  in  the  background  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  as  well  as  some  melodies  also  being  added  into  the  guitar  riffing.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  the  music  is  heavily  rooted  in  the  classic  Eastern  European  tradition  of  the  genre.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  a  couple  songs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  nature  sounds,  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

  On  this  recording  CMPT  remains  true  to  the  raw  and  atmospheric  style  of  pagan  black  metal  that  he  had  established  on  his  previous  release.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  a  concept  album  based  upon  the  ritualistic  side  of  dark  Balkan  Sorcery  and  it's  spiritual  offering  to  the  ancient  cult  of  Death.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  CMPT  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  atmospheric  pagan  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Seme  ponoci"  "Srce  od  trnja"  and  "Mesecev  zub".  8  out  of  10.

CMPT/Mrtvaja/Osmose Productions/2021 EP Review

 

  CMPT  are  an  anonymous  black  metal  formation  from  the  balkan  lands  that  plays  a  raw  and  atmospheric  form  of  pagan  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  ep  "Mrtvaja"  which  will  be  released  on  May  28th  by  Osmose  Productions.

  Nature  sounds  start  off  the  ep  along  with  some  acoustic  guitars  a  few  seconds  later  while  both  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a r aw  feeling  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  music  also  has  its  atmospheric  moments  when  synths  are utilized.  Melodies  are  also  added  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  along  with  the  music  also  being  heavily  influenced  by  the  classic  Slavic  bands  but  also  keeping  it  modern  at  the  same  time  as  well  as  the  vocals  also  having t heir  grim  moments,  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

  CMPT  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  classic  Slavic  style  as  well  as  having  a  good  mixture  of  atmosphere,  rawness  and  epic  structures.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  Balkan  worship  of  Death.

  In  my  opinion  CMPT  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  atmospheric  pagan  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Mrtvaja  Part  one".  8 out  of  10.
