  United  Kingdom's  Arrogant  Destruktor  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  raw  and  old  school  form  of  black  metal  with  elements  of  thrash  and  classic  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  "the  Old  Spirit  Remains" which  was  released  as  a  joint  effort  between  Satanath  and  the  End  Of  Time  Records.

   A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.  Elements  of  thrash  and  traditional  metal  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  music  also  being  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  old  school  era  of  the  genre  and  blast  beats  are  added  into  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs.

  When  tremolo  picking  is  added  into  the  fast  riffing  they  give  the  music  more  of  as  raw  feeling  while  the  solos  and  leads  stick  to  more  of  a  classic  black  metal  tradition  and  also  have  their  melodic  moments.  Throughout  the  album  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to t hem,  synths  can  also be  heard  on  a  few  tracks.

  On  this  recording  Arrogant  Destruktor  continue  the  raw  and  old  school  style  of  black  metal  from  previous  releases  as  well  as  adding  in  elements  of  thrash  and  traditional  metal  to  create  something  very  different.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  Fantasy,  Mythical  and  Celestial  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Arrogant  Destruktor  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  old  school  black  metal  with  elements  of  thrash  and  traditional  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Total  Manical  War!"  "Tue  Domination"  and  "Frost  Eternal".  8  out  of  10.

Arrogant Destruktor/Written In Blood From The Blade/Awakening Records/2023 Full Length Review

 

  United  Kingdom's  Arrogant  Destruktor  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  a  raw  and  old  school  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2023  album  "Written  In  Blood  From  The  Blade"  which  will  be  released  in  march  31st  by  Awakening  Records.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  second  wave  style  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Growls  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Synths  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  along  with  a  couple  of  the  tracks  also  being  long  and  epic  in  length  as  well  as  one  track  also  being  an  instrumental,  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  finally  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  and  old  school  style,  melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  briefly  and  the  album  closes  with  a  cover  of  Necromantia's  "Shaman".

  On  this  recording  Arrogant  Destruktor  remains  true  to  the  raw  and  old  school  style  of  black  metal  that  they  have  established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  fantast,  celestial  and  mythical  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Arrogant  Destruktor  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  old  school  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Dirt  And  Ruin"  "The  Brand"  and  "Shaman".  8  out  of  10.

  United  Kingdom's  Arrogant  Destruktor  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  a  raw  and  old  school  black  metal  direction  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  album  "No  Fucking  Mercy"  which  will  be  released  in  August  by  Void  Wanderer  Productions.

A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and blast  beats  while  the  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  black  metal  screams  that  also  have  their  deep  moments  and  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.

  Most  of  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  One track  also  introduces  synths  onto  the  recording  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  as  well  as  some  first  wave  elements  also  being  utilized  at  times,  one  of  the  tracks  is  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length,  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  some  of  the  riffing  also  shows  an  influence  of  thrash  metal.

Arrogant Destruktor/Commandments Of War And Necromancy/Blackwood Productions/2018 Cassette Review

  United  Kingdom's  duo  Arrogant  Destruktor  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  raw  black  metal  style  of  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "Commandments  Of  War  And  Necromancy"  which  was  released  on  cassette  by  Blackwood  Productions.

  A  very  heavy  and  old  school  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also bring  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  songs  a  more  raw  feeling.

  Vocals a re  mostly  grim  black  metal  screams  while  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and   fast  parts  along  with  the  music  being  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  second  wave  style  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  bringing  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody,  acoustic  guitars  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

  Elements  of  thrash  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  raw  yet  melodic  fashion  along  with  the  bass  guitars  also  throwing  a  lead  on  a  later  track  as  well  as  some  growls  also  being  used  briefly  and  a  few tracks  also  shows  the  vocals  adding  in  more  of  an  80's  crossover/thrash  style.

  Arrogant  Destruktor  continues  the  raw  style  of  black  metal  from  previous  releases  while  also  expanding  upon  the  thrash  influence  that  was  also  a  part  of  their  earlier  releases,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Egyptian  Mythology,  Mythical,  Celestial  and  Fantasy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Arrogant  Destruktor  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  thrash  influenced  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  cassette.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ammut,  Devourer  Of  The  Dead"  "War  Commander"  and  "Born  Of  Mountain  Mysticism".  8  out  of  10.

Arrogant Destruktor/Wrang/Wolfspell Records/2016 Split CD Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  United  Kingdom's  Arrogant  Destruktor  and  Netherlands's  Wrang  which  was  released  by  Wolfspell  Records  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Arrogant  Destruktor  a  band  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  raw  form  of  black  metal.

  Their  side of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  fast  and  raw  black  metal  sound  which  also  uses  a  great  amount of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  screams  and  elements  of  thrash  can  also  be  heard  at  times  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  their  side  of  the  recording.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  remain  true  to  an  old  school  style  of  black  metal and  deep  growls  can  also  be  heard  at  times  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  one  of  the  tracks  is  very  long  and  epic  in  length and  classical  guitars  are  added  onto  the  last  track

  Arrogant  Destruktor creates  another  recording  that  remains  true  to  the  raw  style  of black  metal  of  their  previous  release,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  mythical,  celestial,  fantasy  and  paganism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Arrogant  Destruktor  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Seeds Of  The  Aeon"  and  "Invocations  And  Conjurations  In  The  Name  Of  Woden".

  Next up  is  Wrang  a  band  that  also  plays  a  very  raw  form  of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  fast  and  raw  black  metal  sound  that  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  their side  of the  recording  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  second  wave  tradition  of  the  genre.

  At  times  the  vocals  get  very  deep  and  demonic  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  most    of  their  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  dark  sounding  melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  the  music  at  times  and  clean  playing  is  added  on  the  last  track  along  with  some  melodic  guitar  leads.

Wrang  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  traditional,  dark,  heavy  and  raw  sounding  with  some  second  wave  influences,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Dutch  and  cover  dark themes.

  In  my opinion  Wrang  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Morbide  Delirium".

  In  my  opinion  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  raw  black  metal.  8  out  of  10.

Arrogant Destruktor Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
1. We're Arrogant Destruktor. We are a two black metal band from the UK consisting of A.R (Guitars, Bass) and A.T (vocals). We formed in late 2012 and have released two demos and a full length album 'Amidst the blackest Void' released last year.

2.In September you had released your first full length album, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from your two previous demos?
2. Our debut full length is a compilation of our two (now sold out) demo recordings and a couple of tracks we recorded specifically for the album. We always wanted to make black metal that was fast and barbaric, a no holes barred and stripped back sound, thrashy riffs with a style rooted in the old school but bringing other metal elements to the table. The drums on the album are performed by Anaal Nathrakh live drummer Steve Powell and Cancer's Carl Stokes who also engineered the album.

3.Your lyrics cover some Mythological and fantasy themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in these topics?
3. Our lyrics stem from different influences. I am a big fan of fantasy lore and ancient mythology is something that interests me. Also some of my favourite bands write similarly themed lyrics, King Diamond, Bal-Sagoth, Absu, Old Celtic frost and some of the older death metal bands such as Death and Morbid Angel have written this way which are huge influences.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Arrogant Destruktor'?
4. The name actually came from the lyrics of the first song we wrote for our first demo 'Gold is the flesh of the sun god' which features on the album. The song is about a superior, celestial being who sets upon the destruction of the human race. We thought it sounded fitting for our music.

5.Currently there are only 2 members in the band, are you planning in expanding the line up in the future or do you chose to remain a duo?
5. At the moment, it's just the two of us. We haven't taken Arrogant Destruktor to a live environment just yet but it is something we'd like to do under the correct circumstances and with the right individuals. In the studio, Arrogant Destruktor is a two piece and will likely stay that way in the future.

6.The album was released on Wolfspell Records, can you tell us a little bit more about this label?
6. Wolfspell are a small polish label. I believe our album was his second CD release. We were approached by Michal from the label who liked the sound, wanted to do the album with us and a few months later 'Amidst the blackest void' came along.

7.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?
7.  Both are demo's and subsequently our album have received great reviews, the feedback from listeners of the album has been excellent. Obviously, at this time we are a small underground band with our album on a small underground label, so there's a lot of people who haven't heard it and are unaware of the band so we'd like that to change.

8.Are any of the band members are involved with any other bands or musical projects these days?
8. Yes, A.T is currently the vocalist for an underground death metal band called Merciless Tide. As mentioned, the drumming on our album was handled by Steve Powell of Anaal Nathrakh and Carl Stokes from Cancer.

9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
9. We're currently busy writing our next album, we have about 70% of it written, so far it's sounding strong, the tracks we've written are better than anything we've written before and also darker and more chaotic and we are looking for a label to work with regarding any future releases. We'd also like to bring Arrogant Destruktor to a live environment at some point in the future.

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
10. Some have likened us to bands such as Bathory and Darkthrone but our influences come from elsewhere, Bands such as Celtic Frost, Master's Hammer, Absu and Satyricon for example. We both currently enjoy a wide range of music, mostly black metal and death metal. Voices, A forest of stars and The Meads of Asphodel are just a few from the UK that I've been enjoying recently.

11.What are some of your non musical interests?
11. Not much non musical really, we go to work, we attend gigs and we write and listen to black metal.

  Arrogant  Destruktor  are  a  duo  from  the  United  Kingdom  that  plays  a  very  old  school  form  of  black  metal  with  elements  of  thrash  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2014  album  "Amidst  the  Blackest  Void"  which  was  released  by  Wolfspell  Records.

  A  very  raw  and  old  school  black  metal  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  grim  screams,  morbid  sounding  melodies  and  blast  beats  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  in  some  parts  of  the  songs  the  vocals  get  a  bit  more  deep  and  the  solos  and  leads  go  back  to  the  80's  style  of  black  metal.  

  Most  of  the  songs  go  for  either  a  first  or  second  wave  style  of  black  metal  while  also  mixing  in  some  of  the  more  thrashy  parts  that  where  also  a  huge  part  of  the  first  wave  and  none  of  the  songs  have  any  modern  influences  and  in  the  fast  sections  of  the  songs  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  is  utilized  and  at  times  the  music  almost  has  a  punk  feeling  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  as  the  album  progresses  some  songs  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  atmospheric  elements.

  Arrogant  Destruktor  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw  in  the  second  wave  tradition  while  also  mixing  in  a  touch  of  first  wave  black  metal  and  thrash  to  create  some  heavy  music  that  is  very  heavy  and  old  school,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  mythical,  celestial,  and  fantasy  themes. 

  In  my  opinion  Arrogant  Destruktor  are  a  very  great  sounding  old  school  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Black  War  Machine"  "Parasitic  Roots  Of  Earth"  and  "The  Divine  Embers".  8  out  of  10.
