Blodtår/Monark//Nordvis Produktion/2026 Full Length Review

  Sweden's  Blodtår  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  folk  inspired  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  album  "Monark"  which  will  be  released  in  September  by  Nordvis  Produktion.

  Clean  playing  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  vocals  are  mostyl  angry  sounding  black  metal  screams.   

  Throughout  the  album  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.  Clear  singing  is  also  utilized  at  times  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  as  well  as  the  songs  also  mixing  in  a  lot  of  folk  music  elements.  

  On  this  recording  Blodtår  continue  to  expand  on  the  folk  music  inspired  style  of  black  metal  that  they  have  introduced  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Swedish  and  cover  darkness  and  melancholy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Blodtår  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  folk  influenced  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Til  mon  sista  vilopats"  "Monark"  and  "Den  eviga  isen".  8  out  of  10.

Blodtår/Det förtegna förf/Nordvis Produktion/2023 Full Length Review

 

   Blodtår  are  a  band  from  Sweden  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  folk  influenced  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2023  album  "Det  förtegna  förf"  which  will  be  released  in  April  by  Nordvis  Produktion.

  A  very  heavy  and  epic  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  a  great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  When  acoustic  guitars  are  utilized  they  also  bring  in  elements  of  folk  music  along  with  some  tracks  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing.

  Spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard on  a  couple  of  songs  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  as  well  as  the  music  also  having  its  atmospheric  moments,  one  song  is  also  an  instrumental.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Swedish  and  cover  darkness  and  nature  themes.   

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Blodtår  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric  and  folk  influenced  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "En  krona  av  is"  "Den  fördärvande  sorgbundenheten"  and  "En  brynja  av barr".  8  out  of  10.

Blodtår/Self Titled/Nordvis Produktion/2021 EP Review

 

  Blodtår  are  a  band  from  Sweden  that  plays  a  very  melodic  and  folk  influenced  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  titled  2021  ep  which  will  be  released  in  November  by  Nordvis  Produktion.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Swedish  style  melodies  are  also  added  into  a  lot  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  as  well  as  some  growls  also  being  utilized  at  times.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  acoustic  guitars  also  bring  in  elements  of  folk  music  when  they  are  utilized.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with  the  music  also  being  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era,  nature  sounds  can  also b e  heard  briefly.

  Blodtår  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  goes  back  to  the  90's  Swedish  era  as  well  as  adding  in  touches  of  folk  music  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Swedish  and  cover  folkloric  mysticism.

  In  my  opinion  Blodtår  are  a  very  great  sounding  melodic  and  folk  influenced  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Svartsejd"  and  "Aldrig  mer".  8  out  of  10.
