Sargeist/Flame Within Flame/W.T.C Productions/2025 Full Length Review

 

    Finland's  Sargeist  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  raw  and  old  school  form  of  Finnish  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2025  album  "Flame  Within  Flame"  which  was  released  by  W.T.C  Productions.

  A very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  classic  Finnish  style.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  sounding  black  metal  screams  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  adding  in a   great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Throughout  the  album  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  dark  sounding  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  songs  also  avoiding  the  use  of  guitar  solos  and  the  whole  recording  also  sticks  to  a  heavier  direction.

  On  this  recording  Sargeist  continue  the  fast,  raw  and  old  school  style  of  black  metal  that  has  been  established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Black  Magick,  Darkness,  Death,  Misanthropy  and  Nihilism.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Sargeist  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "An  Eternal  Dream  Beyond  The  Accursed  Portent"  "The  Chant  Of  Rotting  Tongues"  "To  The  Mistress  Of  Blackest  Magic"  and  "Rite  Of  Ascension'.  8  out  of  10.

Serpent Noir/Sargeist/Transcendental Black Magick/W.T.C Productions/2022 CD Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Greece's  Serpent  Noir  and  Finland's  Sargeist  called  "Transcendental  Black  Magick"  which  was  released  by  W.T.C  Productions  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Serpent  Noir  who  return  with  their  occult  style  of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  melodic  and  heavy  riffing  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  that  also  get  very  deep  sounding  at  times.  A  couple  of  the  tracks  are  also  long  and  epic  in  length  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  their  side  of the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats  can be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  Spoken  word  parts  are  also  utilized  briefly  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  as  well  as  one  song  also  adding  in  some  clean  vocals  that  are  done  in  more  of  a  ritualistic  direction,  some  of t he  riffing  also  shows  more  of  a  traditional  metal  influence.

  On  this  recording  Serpent  Moon  remains  true  to  the  occult  style  of  black  metal  that  they  have  established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover Satanism,  Draconian  Current,  Qliphoth  and  concepts  involving  the  Red  Dragon.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Serpent  Moon  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  occult  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Throne  Of  Sathanas"  and  "Daemon  Behind  The  Bars".

  Next  up  is  Sargeist  who  return  with  a  more  occult  themed  style  of  Finnish  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  fast  and  raw  sound  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in t he  classic  Finnish  style  and  most  of  their  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Sargeist  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  enjoy  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Spirit  Nox  Famuli".  8/5  out  of  10.

  Finland's  Sargeist  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  raw  style  of  Finnish  black  metal  from  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2019  ep  "Death  Veneration"  which  was  released  by  W.T.C  Productions.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Most  of  the  music  is  also  rooted  in  the  90's  while  also  keeping  the  Finnish  style  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  When  guitar  leads  are utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style  while  one  of  the  tracks  is  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  Most  of  the  music  sticks  to  a  very  fast,  raw  and  heavy  musical  direction  along  with  only  a  small  amount  of  mid  tempo  sections  being  utilized.

  On  this  recording  Sargeist  remains  true  to  the  fast  and  raw  Finnish  style  of  black  metal  that  they  have  established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  satanism,  death,  depression,  misanthropy,  nihilism,  evil  and  darkness  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Sargeist  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "To  Make  Wolves  Of  Men"  and  "Lunar  Curse".  8  out  of  10.

Sargeist/Unbound/W.T.C Productions/2018 CD Review

  Finland's  Sargeist  have returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  misanthropic  and  satanic  style  of  black  metal  that  they  are  known  for  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "Unbound"  which  was  released  by  W.T.C  Productions.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  which  also  have  their  deep  and  grim  moments  at  times  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies.

  All  of  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  old  school  Finnish  style  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  dark  and  melodic  style  along  with  the  songs  also  bringing  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  music  always  sticks  to  a  very  dark,  raw  and  heavy  musical  direction.

  Sargeist  creates  another  recording  that  remains  very  true  to  the  raw,  satanic  and  misanthropic  style  of  black  metal  they  are  known  for,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Evil,  Depression,  Misanthropy  and  Nihilism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Sargeist  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of this  band,  you  should  enjoy  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Psychosis  Incarnate"  "Death's  Empath"  "Unbound"  and  "Grail  of  the  Pilgrim".  8/5  out  of  10.

Sargeist/Satanic Black Devotion/Moribund Records/2003 CD Review

  Sargeist  are  a  band  from  Finland  that  plays a  very  necro,  raw  and  primitive  form  of  satanic  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2003  album  "Satanic  Black  Devotion"  which  was  released  by  Moribund  Records.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  black  metal  riffs  that  are  very  necro,  raw  and  primitive  sounding  with  some  dark  sounding  melodies  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  and  there  are  no guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on  this  recording.

  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  that  have  a  depressive  feeling  to  them  at  times  along  with  some  deeper  growls  being  thrown  into  the  music  at  times,  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism  and  Melancholy,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sound  to  it.

  In  my  opinion  Sargeist  are  a  very  great  sounding  necro,  raw  and  primitive  satanic  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  style  of  music,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Satanic  Black  Devotion"  "Frowning,  Existing"  "Black  Fucking  Murder"  and  "Returning  To  Misery  &  Comfort".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
