1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the solo project?
Hi and thanks for the interview first of all.
Eerie was born out of the need to create something of Black Metal, since it is one of my favorite genres, I had been trying to do something with other members for a long time, but due to the lack of time and formality of the people, I finally decided to create the project alone.
2.So far you have released a demo and 2 full lengths, musically how do they all differ form each other?
I think that from the first album "End Of An Era" to this second "The Delirium Of The Believers" it has evolved a bit and is more elaborate compositionally speaking, the production is also better, in "End Of An Era" I wanted to make it more raw, but for "The Delirium Of The Believers" I decided to work more on the mixes and the master and look for a more solid sound. It is the advantage of recording, mixing and mastering yourself, you can find your own sound and have your own identity.
3.Most of your other musical projects are death metal while you go for more of a black metal direction with this project, how would you compare the 2 different genres?
The other bands I play in (Encephalic, Inhuman Depravation, Abandonment, With All My Hate, Deceit, Catastrophic Evolution,...) are Brutal Death except for Deceit which is Grind/Death and With All My Hate which over time of the years and four albums it became practically Blackened.
The genres have absolutely nothing to do with it, but since they are genres that I like and I don't close myself off when it comes to composing...
It's the good thing that you like different genres and be versatile, not sticking to a single form and genre when composing.
4.A lot of your lyrics cover Anti Christianity themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your hatred for this religion?
I´m an atheist and I do not believe in any god or in any religion, but in the name of God the greatest atrocities in history have been committed, murders, robberies, rapes, ... and therefore I declare myself anti-Christian
5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Eerie'?
I'm an atheist, I don't believe in anything, nor does it suit me, so I wasn't going to give a demon name or something related to Satanism, it had to be something mysterious and dark, and I think Eerie is perfect for the band and there was no other band with that name, or so I thought, but I was wrong, when "End Of An Era" was released I realized that there was another Black Metal band with the same name, I think it's Polish, but the album was already on the market, the logo had already been done a year ago and I was not going to change it, so I decided to continue as Eerie
6.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?
The cover of "The Delirium Of The Believers" was made by the artist Manolo GV, a childhood acquaintance and a great musician, on some occasion I had proposed to do one of my covers and the time came.
As the name itself indicates, believers reach a point of delirium that they flog themselves,
immolate, kill in the name of their god, ...
I wanted Manolo to reflect it, appearing a temple in ruins with some dark trees and believers committing suicide, that some were seen hanging themselves, the rest was up to him, I left him total freedom and I am very happy with the result, the cd layout and the logo they're my thing like Art Dystopia.
7.With this project you record everything by yourself but have worked with musicians in other projects, do you prefer to work solo?
It's not about whether or not I want to work alone, it's that I have no other choice, in my city there are very few extreme metal musicians and none of Black Metal, I would have to work with musicians from other cities or countries like I do with others. projects that I have, but it is still difficult to find committed musicians with time.
And perhaps since I've been having solo projects for more than ten years now, I've settled in, not having to put up with anyone and having total freedom when composing is an advantage.
In my case I take charge of everything, composition, recording, mixing, mastering, design, videos, lyric video, promotion (although in this case Blood Fire Death is taking charge) I also do cover art (graphic design), but I prefer that make them cartoonists, I like them better.
I prefer to work alone? No, but I have been forced to do it and in the end, inevitably, I have gotten used to it
8.One one of the songs you also have session work from Midgard of 'Oujia', can you tell us a little bit more about his contribution to the recording?
Due to the delay in the release of the album, which was originally going to be released in early 2022, I was improving the master and making some arrangements and I had been wanting to propose a collaboration to Midgard for some time, but between one thing and another I never contacted him . , I finally decided.
His work in Ouija and Spellcraft seems enormous to me, so I proposed it to him and he accepted without hesitation, which is appreciated and surprised me, he is a great person and very accessible.
I gave him total freedom to eliminate the parts he wanted and to add his voice as he wanted, in the end he only added clean voices, but they give another special touch to that song, I really like how it turned out.
At the end of the album there is a bonus track of that song "The Perversion" which is the original, the one I recorded, without collaboration.
9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?
Well, the truth is that it has not had the expected response, perhaps now that Blood Fire Death is being heavily promoted there will be better promotion and it will reach more media and people who might like Eerie.
On the first album there was no promotion, I took charge of sending promotional links to the media, but most did not respond or simply said "Eerie's first release" and little else, Black Metal Promotions would have been a good push to give the band to know, but he didn't want to upload it either, he says "Sorry, it's not exactly my thing."
so I will continue on my way, with or without help!!
10.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that you are a part of?
Well this year, due to delays beyond the control of the bands, three releases have been put together, EERIE's "The Delirium Of The Believers", ENCEPHALIC "Wrapped In Suffering" and INHUMAN DEPRAVATION "Servants Of Supremacy", DECEIT and CATASTROPHIC EVOLUTION are on stand by, WITH ALL MY HATE will surely begin the compositions of the fifth album next year, ABANDONMENT the second album is 50% complete and a new Death Metal project is yet to write the lyrics and record the vocals for the release of the first full length, I don't like Ep's or splits, so I try to make only full length
11.Where do you see yourself heading into as a musician during the future?
My only objective is to compose, record and release albums, I have been a musician since '94 and 21 albums if I'm not mistaken, I like and enjoy composing and creating my own works, obviously I also enjoy listening to the works of others, but with o without other musicians, I will continue to expand my legacy, hahaha
I have my own record label ICON OF BRUTALITY PRODUCTIONS that in its day released several bands and even organized three festivals under the name of the ICON OF BRUTALITY FEST label, but since I lost money with both the festivals and the releases, so I have it as a distributor, although right now it is on standby due to lack of time and money.
And it's something that I would like to raise and when I stop composing continue with it, but as I told you, I lost money and I don't know if I'll dare to resume it again.
12.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Here I could spend hours writing bands, but since I was a child I listened to various musical styles, Death Metal, Grindcore, Brutal Death, Black Metal, Heavy Metal, Speed Metal, Doom Metal, and maybe some Thrash Metal, but very little, I like music not the style, I enjoy listening to something that fills me, not because it is of this style or another.
Bands I listened to when I started Ac/Dc, Iron Maiden, Blind Guardian, Sepultura, ... later I started to meet bands like Entombed, Dismember, Pestilence, Death, Deicide, Brutal Truth, Brutality, Amorphis, Napalm Death, Emperor, Satyricon, Cradle Of filth, Dimmu Borgir, Gorgoroth, Belphegor, to name a few that come to mind, later Cryptopsy, Suffocation, Devourment, Deeds Of Flesh, Deranged, Nasum, Disavowed, Severe Torture, Inveracity, Gorgasm, Ouija, Carcass , Paradise Lost, The Heretic, Uncreation, Reincarnation, Golgotha, Nopresion, SA, Machine Head, Scent Of Death, at some point Pearl Jam and Red Hot Chili Peppers... over time, and oddly enough I started listening to bands that I hadn't paid attention to like Dark Funeral, something from Mayhem and Marduk, Dark Funeral, especially the first records and Marduk I love them, but for one reason or another when I started listening to music I didn't pay attention to them.
Today I still listen to those albums and bands like Stabbing, Mgla, ...And Ocean, Velka, Lik, Putridity, some Batushka stuff, there was a period when I listened to some Nu Metal, Djent and a lot of Thrashcore, but most of it of the time I listen to Brutal Death and Black Metal.
