Carnivora's Feast Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

Carnivora’s Feast formed about 2021-2022 in Kozani/Greece, first started as a project from Zisis. During the recordings the rest of the final line up add their personal touches until we  turned out as Carnivoras Feast.

2.In June you had released your first full length can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style that you went for on the recording?

We base our music to extreme-black metal but every idea we liked just became a part of our sound.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored so far with the music?

In general, the theme we mainly deal with is the exploitation of man by each authority, the church, etc and the greedy destruction that man has within him.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Carnivora's  Feast'?

The name Carnivora's Feast has to do with how the world has turned into a funfair of consumption in the same insatiable way that a carnivore consumes its prey.

5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?

The cover artwork is a creation of Christos Gikas. For me it shows how the human emotions are the most diabolical and how you use the name of the Devil to justify human mistakes.

6.Has the band done any live shows or open to the idea?

We like the idea of playing a live show as long as we will be prepared accordingly, unfortunately during this period there is no adequate time for preparation.

7.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?

It's something that interests us but we haven't looked into it just yet, there has been some interest that we have yet to think about.

8.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?

In general, the rather experimental style we have in our music has been passed on to black metal fans. We like that this is being brought out, the main thing we want is to release people's emotions and taboos.

9.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?

John, besides the other bands he's part of, is working on a personal project, currently recording their debut album. Agis is busy with Kawir promoting their new album and quite a few live shows in the near future. He is also preparing the debut album of his own band Infernal Storm.

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

We want to continue writing music for as long as it makes sense to us and have actually something to say thematically.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

We are definitely greatly influenced by the style of Thorns and later by the extreme avant garde scene, without saying that we represent exactly this style. In general, our influences include a lot of progressive sound. In terms of listening, you will find almost everything the band members are into, from extreme metal to traditional music and from electronic to jazz.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Good luck everyone, open your minds and don't allow anyone to set limits for you and define your lives.

Carnivora's Feast/Teufel/2024 Full Length Review

Carnivora's  Feast  are  a  band  from  Greece  that  plays  an  experimental  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2024  album  "Teufel".

A  very  apocalyptic  sounding  intro  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  angry  sounding  black  metal  screams  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  avant  garde  and  experimental  sounding  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  one  song  also  introducing  growls  into  the  music  as  well  as  the  solos  and  leads  also  bringing  in  more  of  a  classic  extreme  metal  style.

Synths  and  whispered  voices  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  one  track  also  adds  in  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  and  as  the  album  progresses  a  small  amount  of  female  vocals  can  also  be  heard,  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  modern  era.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  philosophical  themes.

In  my  opinion  Carnivora's  Feast  are  a  very  great  sounding  experimental  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Commander"  "The  Force"  "Aurora"  and  "We,  The  Foul  And  The  Wretched".  8  out  of  10.
