Mik/Ajmaq/2026 FUll Length Review

Mik  are  an  international  duo  with  members  from  El  Salvador  and  Spain  that  plays  a  very  depressive  ant  atmospheric  form  of  post  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  album  "Ajmaq".

A  very  dark,  heavy  and  melodic  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  solos  and  leads  also  add  in a   lot  of  melody  and  post  metal  elements.  Vocals  are  are  done  in a   depressive  black  metal  style mixed  in with  some  deep  growls  along  with  the  music  also  getting  very  atmospheric  sounding  at  times.

All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in a   lot  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  Clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  a  couple  of  tracks  also  adding  in  a small  amount  of  clear  singing  and  most  of  the  album  sticks  to  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction.

Mik  plays  a  style  of  post  black  metal  that  is  very  atmospheric,  depressive  and  modern  sounding.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  Mayan,  Nahuat  symbolism,  eternal  recurrence,  existential  dread  and  psychological  fragmentation.

In  my  opinion  Mik  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric  and  depressive  post  black  metal  duo  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Beheaded"  and  "Ajmaq".  8  out  of  10.
