Stellar Master Elite/Hologram Temple/Unholy Conspiracy Deathwork/2019 Full Length Review

  Germany's  Stellar  Master  Elite  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  their  mixture  of  black,  doom  metal  and  experimental  music  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2019  album  "Hologram  Temple"  which  will  be  released  in  May  by  Unholy  Conspiracy  Artwork.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  spoken  word  samples  also  being  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording.  Death  metal  growls  are  also  utilized  at  times  while  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  are  very  heavily  rooted  in  doom  metal  and  a  great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Synths  are  also  added  into  some  parts  of  the  music  while  the  songs  also  get  very  experimental  at  times.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  black metal  feeling  along  with  the  vocals  also  capturing  the  deeper  side  of  the  genre.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  music  also  getting  very  dissonant  sounding  at  times.  Grim  screams  are  also  a  very  huge  part  of  the  recording  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  more  of  a  modern  black  metal  style  as  well  as  having  their  technical  moments  as  the  album  progresses.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  colonization  of  distant  planets,  galaxies  artificial  intelligence's  and  Phillip  K.  Dick's  theories  regarding  androids.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Stellar  Master  Elite  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black,  doom  metal  and  experimental  music,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Null"  "Ad  Infinitum"  "Black  Hole  Dementia"  and  "Tetragon".  8  out  of  10.

Stellar Master Elite/III: Eternalism - The Psycholospherical Chapter/Essential Purification Records/2015 CD Review

  Stellar  Master  Elite  are  a  band  from  Germany  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  mixture  of  black  and  doom  metal  with  elements  of  ambient  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "III: Eternalism - The Psycholospherical Chapter"  which  will  be  released  in  October  by  Essential  Purification  Records.

  A  very  powerful  bass  guitar  and  ambient  sounds  start  off  the  album  and  a  few  seconds  later  melodies  and  military  style  drum  beats  are  added  into  the  music  which  leads  up  to  more  of  a  black  metal  style  along  with  some  deep  and  grim  screams  that  also  use  growls  at  times  and a  great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Most  of  the  music  sticks  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  paced  musical  direction  while  there  are  also  some  fast  parts  and  blast  beats  and  also gets  atmospheric  at  times  and  after  awhile  the  vocals  get  more  high  pitched  and  you  can  also  hear  elements  of  industrial  at  times  and  some  tracks  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  spoken  word  samples.

   The  songs  at  times  also  bring  in  elements  of  death  metal  while  a  later track  also  brings  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  singing  and  tribal  parts  giving  the  song  more  of  a  goth  feeling  and  as  the  album  progresses  the  music  gets  more  experimental  and  the  synths  also makes  the  music  sound  a  lot  more  powerful  while  a  later  track  brings  in  elements  of  black'n'roll.

  Stellar  Master  Elite  continue  their  ambient  and  atmospheric  approach  to  black  and  doom  metal  from  the  previous  recording  while  the  blackened  parts  dominate  most  of  the  heavier  sections  and  they  also  get  more  experimental  with  the  songs  and  display  a  great  amount  of progress  as  musicians,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  a  harsh  reflection  of  man's  own  relationship  with  the  sky  above  and  the passage  of  ages.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Stellar  Master  Elite  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Desperate  Grandeur"  "Hologram Temple"  and  "Mark  Of  The  Beast".  8  out  of  10.

Stellar Master Elite interview

1. Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording of the new album?
Dave: We spent a lot of time finishing everything else after the recording of the album, as it was finished in the end of 2011 right after the release of “I”. Mixing, mastering and designing issues took a lot of time until we were fully satisfied. After that there was a lot to do to help our label with their promo work. At the moment we are recording guitars and drums for our next output.

2. Recently you put out a new album, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical direction it is in and also how does it differ from the album you released in 2011?
D: I think it feels more compact than our first output. The album fits together perfectly in every song. It drags you so much deeper. The concept is the same like than on our last and our next album.

3. When I look at the band logo, I noticed that there is a third eye, does Occultism or other similiar topics play a role in your music?
D: “Occult” sounds like para-science. I would rather speak about reality. Our music deals with our reality as we experience it. There are strange things going on in the world and we can´t percept with our five senses. The frequencies beyond the visible light are further than our mind can expect. The world is not what it seems to be. You are being lied to...!

4. Can you tell us a little bit more about the song lyrics on the new album what they cover and also how you feel you have progressed as songwriters over the last 2 years?
D: I don´t want to give any preoccupation to our listeners. They have to experience it in their own way. We developed as personalties rather than our technical skills. It feels like a natural development. We never practise on our own, everything just happens.

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?
D: As we haven´t played any gigs right now, there are no best performances.

6. Do you have any touring or show plans for the new album?
D: No. We are a songwriting and studio oriented band. We love to work in the studio and develop our songs. Besides the music we are full time workers. As there is not much time to work with more musicians on a concept to bring the same quality to stage. A two man band is much easier to handle than a full band and it would take a lot of time to fit more than 2 egos together. If you have such a limited amount of time, you have to set priorities. And by the way, rehearsing and playing the same songs all the time is really boring.

7.The new album came out on Exciter Records, can you tell us a little bit more about this label?
D: As it is a new label and we are the first release there is not much to tell. The future will show in which direction it goes and we wish Alex the best in releasing more quality music. At the moment I think he is searching for some special bands for future releases and busy regarding our upcoming release.

8. What is going on with the other musical projects these days?
D: Beside SME, nothing. SME is my second full time job and there is no time for other projects.

9.What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?
D: We started to record drums and guitars just a few weeks ago. We want it to be really dark and experimental. That´s we want it to sound like. It happens on a very intuitive level and not as a conscious decision. Let´s see what future brings.

10. What are some bands or musical style that have influenced your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
D: I´m really much into John Carpenter Scores at the moment and listen to a lot of experimental music like Aun. The new Ulver album is fantastic as well and i can´t get my hands off of Kraftwerk´s Trans Europa Express.

11.Outside of music what are some of your interests?
D: I do a lot of handcraft work on building synthesizers and small sound machines. I´m collecting analogue synthesizers and strange sounding things. Besides music there isn´t much except reading books and watching 70´s and 80´s sci fi movies.

12.Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?

Stellar Master Elite/Destructive Interference Generator/Exciter Records/2013 Full Length Review

  Stellar  Master  Elite  are  a  band  from  Germany  that  plays  black  metal  with  elements  of  doom  and  ambient  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2013  album  "Destructive  Interference  Generator"  which  was  released  by  Exciter  Records.

  "Prodigium"  begins  with  some  heavy  doom  metal  style  guitar  riffs  and  ambient  sound  effects  and  experimental  synths  and  this  song  is  all  instrumental  and  serves  as  an  intro  for  the  rest  of  the  album.

  "Thoughtcrimes-Villain  Slave"  begins  with  some  heavy  Norwegian  style  black  metal  guitar  riffs,  drums  and  grim  screams  and  as  the  song  moves  on  melodies  make  their  way  into  the  riffing  along  with  industrial  style  sounds  and  a  few  seconds  later  there  is  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  before  going  into  a  faster  direction.

  "Beyond  Light"  begins  with  some  melodic  guitar  riffs,  drums,  ambient  soundscapes  and  spoken  word  parts  before  the  drums  kick  in  and  the  riffing  starts  bringing  in  power  chords  which  sets  up  the  mood  for  the  black  meta  vocals  to  kick  in  as  well  as  some  background  guitar  leads  and  a  minute  later  it  goes  more  into  a  fast  and  primitive  direction  along  with  some  blast  beats  but  keeping  around  the  leads  and  mixing  them  with  the  rhythms  which  leads  to  the  song  going  back  into  a  slower  direction  which  in  return  leads  to  the  song  switching  back  and  forth  between  slow  and  fast  parts.

  "Pattern  Of  Perception"  begins  with  some  mid  paced  guitar  riffs,  drums  and  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  some  ambient  sounds  making  their  way  into  the  mix  and  a  few  minutes  later  guitar  leads  start  coming  in  and  out  before  slowing  down  and  adding  in  powerful  bass  lines  along  with  more  solos  and  then  the  song  starts  speeding  up  a  bit  for  awhile  which  then  takes  the  song  into  a  more  slow,  melodic  and  atmospheric  direction  as  well  as   switching  back  and  forth  between  slow  and  fast  parts.

  "Prison  Planet"  begins  with  some  progressive  sounding  guitar  leads  before  going  into  heavy  doom  metal  guitar  riffs,  drums  and  high  pitched  screams  and  a  couple  of  minutes  later  synths  make t heir  presence  known  along  with  spoken  word  parts  and  whispers  and  the  song  closes  with  some  powerful  bass  playing.

  "The  Mobius  Strip"  begins  with  some  heavy  guitar  riffs  and  drums  which  lead  to  some  black  metal  screams  and  as  the  song  moves  on  it  switches  back  and  forth  between  slow  and  mid  paced  parts  and  towards  the  end  industrial  and  ambient  sounds  make  their  way  into  the  mix  as  well  as  spoken  word  parts  and  powerful  bass  guitars.

  "Destructive Interference Generator"  begins  with  a  spoken  word  sample  before  going  into  doom  metal  style  guitar  riffs,  drums,  distorted  vocals  and  experimental  sounds  which  in  return  leads  to  the  vocals  mixing  in  black  metal  elements  and  after  a  couple  of  minutes  there  are  more  spoken  word  parts  being  utilized  briefly  and  after  awhile  the  song  goes  more  into  a  mid  paced  direction  for  awhile  before  returning  to  its  doom  roots  and  adding  in  some  guitar  leads  among  the  heaviness  and  the  song  closes  with  an  ambient  industrial  sound.

  "Empty  Shells  Of  Being"  begins  with  some  powerful  bass  playing,  drums,  progressive  guitar  riffs  and  black  metal  screams  and  a  minute  later  the  bass  guitars  take  over  as  the  main  instrument  along  with  some  background  lead  guitars  and  hand  clapping

  Song  lyrics  cover  drugs,  scientific  and  philosophical  themes,  while  the  production  has  a  very  strong,  powerful  and  heavy  sound  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording  along  with  some  of  the  songs  being  long  and  epic  in  length.

  In  my  opinion  Stellar  Master  Elite  are  a  very  great  sounding  black  metal  band  with  elements  of  doom  and  ambient  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Thoughtcrimes-Villain  Slave"  "Pattern  Of  Perception"  and  "Destructive Interference Generator".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
