Sordide/Ainsi finit le jour/Les Acteurs de L'Ombre Productions/2024 Full Length Review

 

  France's  Sordide  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  very  modern  style  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2024  album  "Ainsi  finit  le  jour"  which  will  be  released  in  October  by  Les  Acteurs  de  L'Ombre  Productions.

  A  very  distorted  sound  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into a   very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats.  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  dissonant  sounding  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  angry  sounding  black  metal  screams  and  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  lot  of  melody.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  a  lot  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  album also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  some  of  the  riffing  also  adding  in  a  touch  of  crust  punk,  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  acoustic  instruments  are  added  on  the  closing  track.

  On  this  recording  Sordide  goes  for  more  of  a  modern  and  aggressive  style  of  black  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  French  and  cover  Death  and  Decay  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Sordide  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  modern  and  aggressive  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Deus  feux  plus  forts"  "Sous  vivre"  "Ainsi  finit  le  jour"  and  "Tour  est  a  la  mort".  8  out  of  10.

Sordide/Les Idees Blanches/Les Acteurs de I'Ombre Productions/2021 CD Review

 

  France's  Sordide  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  a  modern  black  metal  style  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  album  "Les  Idees  Blanches"  which  will  be  released  in  June  by  Les  Acteurs  de  I'Ombre  Productions.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording.  Vocals  are  mostly  angry  sounding  black  metal  screams  along  with  some  dissonant  style  structures  also  being  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  and  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  riffs.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  while  the  guitar  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  distorted  style  when  they  are  utilized.  Spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  along  with  some  of  the  riffing  also  showing  an  influence  of  punk  rock  as  well  as  the  music  also  being  more  experimental  than  previous  releases.

  Most  of  the  music  also  brings  in  more  of  a  modern  style  along  with  the  tremolo  picking  also  giving  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  when  it  is  utilized.  Some  of  the  tracks  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  as  the  album  progresses  a  brief  use  of  acoustic  guitars  can  also  be  heard,  the  closing  track  is  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  French  and  cover  France,  Violence  and  Anti  Fascism  themes.  

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Sordide  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  modern  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Je  n'ai  nul  pays"  "Ne  savior  que  rester"  and  "Vers  jamais".  8  out  of  10.

Sordide/Fuir La Lumiere/Avantgarde Music/2016 CD Review

  Sordide  are  a  band  from  France  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  raw  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  album  "Fuir  La  Lumiere"  which  will  be  released  in  October  by  Avantgarde  Music.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  black  metal  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  screams  and  some  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  hear a   great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast parts  while  some  of  the  riffs  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  while  some  of  the  riffing  also  brings  in a   touch  of  black'n'roll  and  the  vocals  also  have  a  punk  edge  at  times  and  when  guitar  leads a re  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  direction  and  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of  clean  guitars,

  Sordide  creates  another  recording  that remains  true  to  the  raw  style  of  black  metal  from  their  previous  release,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  yet  powerful  at  the  same  time  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  French  and  cover  violent  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Sordide  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Revolte"  and  "Sans  Regrets".  8  out  of  10.

Sordide/La France a peur/Avantgarde Music/2014 CD Review

  Sordide  are  a  band  from  France  that  plays  a  very  fast  and  aggressive  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2014  album  "La  France  a  peur"  which  was  released  by  Avantgarde  Music.

  A  very  powerful  bass  guitar  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  drums  and  grim  black  metal  screams  for  a  few  seconds  alter  which  also  leads  up  to  the  music  going  for  more  of  a  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  along  with  some  blast  beats  and  the  music  and  vocals  also  bring  in  more  of  an  angry  and  hateful  sound  as  the  album  progresses.

  Throughout  the  recording  there  is  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  most  of  the  tracks  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  good  mixture  of  both  the  old  school  and  modern  black  metal  sound  as  well  as  adding  in  some  progressive  elements  and  deeper  growls  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording.

  A  decent  amount  of  melody  can  be  heard  in  the  music  at  times  and  the  bass  guitars  also  mix  in  a  few  leads  with  the  guitar  riffs  adding  in  more  of  a  darker  black  metal  sound  to  the  recording  and  all  of  the  tracks  stay  in  a  very  heavy,  raw  and  aggressive  musical  direction  while  the  last  track  does  bring  in  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing.


  Sordide  plays  a  very  raw  and  aggressive  style  of  black  metal  that  brings  in  a  very  powerful  bass  guitar  sound  as  well  as  having  a  sound  that  will  appeal  to  both  modern  and  old  school  fans  of  the  genre,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  yet  powerful  while  the  lyrics  are  written  mostly  in  French  and  cover  violent  and  hateful  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Sordide  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  aggressive  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Blame  "L,  Innocence"  and  "Violence".  8  out  of  10.
