Ancient Funeral Cult Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?

Viktor: At the moment, that's quite a few days ago we finished the work on a track that will go into a tribute album, not without a certain group.

2.In February you had released a new album, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

Viktor: Yes, the album itself is very interesting work on it full swing parallel to our other albums and split. Ukrainian-language album in full, we can say with patriotic roots. This the first time we have.

3.The band has been around since 2007 but waited until 2013 to release any music, can you tell us a little bit more about the first 6 years?

Viktor: This is the period of this creative stagnation. I almost did not do anything for the project, being busy with the participation of the other groups.
We can say that these 6 years, the group was able to freeze.

4.Since 2014 there has been a great amount of material released, do you feel the band puts a great amount of time and effort into writing and creating music?

Viktor: Hmm, I would say that we just burst, we have received many interesting proposals that we are easy to perform.
We really put all the attention the project and engaged exclusively to them.

5.Your lyrics so cover a great amount of satanic, occult and anti christian themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in these subjects?

Viktor: There are many factors that influence the writing of texts, whether to read a book or a news ticker on the Internet. In his texts, I often just make fun of this farce called "church" and all that is connected with it. Now this whole circus just insane, if you look around all the clergy alcoholics, perverts and necrophilia. Why is anyone in their opinion that does not adhere to the Christian faith - Herod and Satanist. I think that 95% of these people do not even know who is actually a "Satanist".

6.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Ancient Funeral Cult'?

Viktor: The name of the project gave Sam from "Tale", and his hand was drawn first logo that we use almost anywhere.
I can not say it as it affects us, or music. It's kind of a cult, the cult of the afterlife and the afterlife.

7.Currently there are only two members in the band, are you planning on expanding the line up in the future or do you chose to remain a duo?

Viktor: Yes, I plan on expanding in the group, but most likely in terms of session musicians to bring them to the concert. For everything else, we have enough and the two of us.

8.In the last couple of years the band has been a part off a great amount of splits, can you tell us a little bit more about working with these different bands on these recordings?

Viktor: It was very interesting, in a short time to make a large number of splits, I was pleasantly surprised to work with all groups with which we did. Everything was at a level that is very inspired to write songs in a very short time.

9.The new album was released on Barbatos Productions, can you tell us a little bit more about this label?

Viktor: About Barbatos Productions say not much, the label in terms of relationships "Publisher - a group of" very good. No hitches and other nuances, we did not have them, everything was at a high level.

10.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?

Viktor: Reviews about our project very much - nothing wrong with his side I have not heard. People who listen to us - support us.

11.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that the band members are a part off?

Viktor: All that you write all what is so busy, work in full swing - nothing stands still.

12.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Viktor: We exist until we have - what will happen next I can not say a lot of ideas, and of course all of this can be realized.

13.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Viktor: I was influenced by the early recordings of bands like Burzum, Emperor and Darkthone. At this time, I listen to almost anything if I just went through earlier styles - now listen to what touches, what gives the drive. I like sort of a black'n'roll style Carpathian Forest.

14.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Viktor: You have to do what you do without hypocrisy, remaining himself in any situation. Do not make yourself a clown or jester, for black metal music is not for the weak, and for people originally strong in spirit and mind.

Allumn/Ancient Funeral Cult/When Everything Was Gone/Narcoleptica Productions/2014 Split Cassette Review

This  is  a  review  of  a  split  cassette  between  California's  Allumn  and  Ukraine's  Ancient  Funeral  Cult  called  "When  Everything  Was  Gone"  which  was  released  by  Narcoleptica  Productions  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Allumn  a  1  man  project  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  depressive  form  of  black  metal.

His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  clean  guitars  and  after  a  few  minutes  grim  screams  are  added  into  the  music  and  the  songs  get  more  heavier  and  add  in  some  melodies  and  more  of  a  depressive  black  metal  sound  and  on  the  following  songs  some  of  the  riffs  start  adding  in  more  of  a  raw  feeling  along  with  some  vocals  getting  more  deep  and  dark.

Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  amount  of  atmospheric  synths  at  times  as  well  as  a  small  amount  of  spoken  word  parts,  when  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  very  dark,  melodic  and  depressive  sounding  and  towards  the  end  clean  guitars  make  their  return  on  the  last  track,  the  production  sound s very  dark  and raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  depressive  themes.

In  my  opinion  Alumn  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  depressive  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "When  Everything  Was  Gone"  and  "Ov  Morrow".

Next  up  is  Ancient  Funeral  Cult  a  band  that  plays  a  raw,  melodic  and  satanic  form  of  black  metal.

Their  side  of  the  split  starts  off  with  a  very  fast  and  melodic  black  metal  sound  that  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  after  awhile  grim  screams  start  becoming  a  huge  part  of  all  of  the  tracks  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  solos  and  leads  the  band  uses  also  remain  true  to  a  melodic  musical  direction  and  the  last  track  is  all  instrumental  and  uses some  clean  playing,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satan,  Death  and  Anti  Christianity  themes.

In  my  opinion  Ancient  Funeral  Cult  are  a  very  great  sounding,  raw  and  melodic  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Will  Burn!!!"  and  "Faithbreaker".

In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  raw,  depressive,  melodic  and  satanic  black  metal.  8  out  of  10.
