Pneuma Hagion/Voidgazer/Nuclear War Now! Productions/2020 Full Length Review

 

  San  Antonio,  Texas's  solo  project  Pneuma  Hagion  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  mixture  of  war,  black,  doom  and  death  metal  from  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2020  album  "Voidgazer" which  will  be released  in  December  by  Nuclear  War  Now!  Productions.

  A  very  dark,  heavy  and  brutal  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  guttural  death  metal  growls  while  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  also  bring  in  elements  of  doom  metal.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking,  blast  beats  and  war  metal  influences  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  At  times  the  growls also  get  very  bestial  sounding  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  90's  influences  but  also  keeps  it  modern  at  the  same  time.  Dark  sounding  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  tracks  also  adding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  whole  album  also  sticks  to  a  heavier  musical  direction.

  On  this  recording  Pneuma  Hagion  remains  true  to  the  mixture  of  war,  black,  doom  and  death  emtal  that  was  established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  Gnosticism  and  Occultism  themes. 

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Pneuma  Hagion  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  war,  black,   doom  and  death  emtal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Aeons  Of  Slumber"  "Anticosmic  Incantations" "Gate  To  Worlds  Beyond"  and  "Primordial".  8  out  of  10.

Pneumia Hagion/Trinity/Nuclear Now! Productions/2018 Compilation Album Review

  Pneumia  Hagion  are  a  solo  project  from  San  Antonio,  Texas  that  has  had  a  demo  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  mixture  of  war, black  and  doom/death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2018  compilation  album  "Trinity"  which  was  released  by  Nuclear  War  Now!  Productions  and  consists  of  the  first  3  demos  and  "Rituals  Of  Extinction"  ep.

   A  very  fast  and  brutal  war  metal  sound  starts  off  the  compilation  along  with  some  bestial  death  metal  growls  a  few  seconds  later  while  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  morbid  sounding  melodies  as  well  as  the  music  being  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era  of  war,  black  and  death  metal.

  When  the  music  slows  down  a  great  amount  of  doom/death  metal  elements  can  be  heard  while  the  fast  riffs  also  use  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  along  with  the  songs  also  bringing  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  a  couple  of  tracks  also  introduces  ritualistic  synths  onto  the  compilation  briefly  as  well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  when  guitar  solos  are  used  briefly  they  are  done  in  a  very  chaotic  fashion.

  On  this  compilation  Pneumia  Hagion  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  war,  black  and  cavernous  doom/death  metal  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  his  own  as  well  as  making each  demo  sound  different  from  each  other,  the  production  sounds  very  dark, raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  Gnosticism  and  Occultism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  collection  from  Pneumia  Hagion   and  if  you  are  a  fan of  cavernous,  bestial,  war,  black  and  doom/death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  compilation.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Caverns"  "Most  Holy  Serpent"  "Lightbringer"  and  "Archon  Of  Disease".  8  out  of  10.

Pneuma Hagion/Trinity I/2015 Demo Review

  Pneuma  Hagion  are  a  1  man  band  from  Texas  that  plays  a  bestial  mixture  of  black,  death  and  doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released 2015  demo  "Trinity  I".

  A  very  fast,  raw  and  old  school  war  metal  sound  starts  off  the  demo  along  with  some  guttural  yet  demonic  vocals  and  the music  also  brings  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  slower  sections  bringing  in  an  early  90's  doom/death  metal  feeling  which  is  also  mixed  in  with  a  bestial  sound.

  You  can  hear  a  decent  amount  of  Australian  and  Ross  Bay  Cemetery  influences  throughout  the recording  along  with  a  good  dose  of  the  bestial black  metal  sound  and  the  songs  all  have  a  vintage  old  school  feeling  to  them  and  sound  like  they  could  of  easily  been  recorded  and  released  during  the  90's.

  Pneuma  Hagion  plays  a  very  old  school  style  of  bestial,  war/black  metal  on  this  demo  which  he  also  mixes  in  with  a  great  amount  of  death  and  doom  metal  elements  which  also  gives  his  approach  to  the  genre  a  different  touch,  the  production  sounds  very  dark,  filthy,  raw  and  old  school  sounding  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness  and  occultism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Pneuma  Hagion  are  a  very  great  sounding  bestial  mixture  of  war,  black,  death  and  doom  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  solo  project.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "First  thought".  8  out  of  10.
