1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the solo project?
A.H: Vider is about exploring hatred. I want to channel my own hatred into the chords of the guitar.
Vider is the result of me not thinking too much and just letting the music guide me, while creating the most chaotic and pummelling listening experience as I possibly can.
2.Earlier this year you released your first full length, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style that you went for on the recording?
A.H: I don’t think that I thought very much about the style beforehand. I just wanted the music to sound as filthy and putrid as possible, without losing too much dynamics. I think it ended up very punishing.
3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects you have explored so far with the music?
A.H: The lyrics mostly revolves around hatred… Weaved with occult and satanic symbolism.
4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Vider'?
A.H: Vider is a play on words in Swedish. The word “Vidrig” means disgusting or repulsive. So the word “Vider” would be translated to the singular personified version of that word. The embodiment of filth and disgust.
5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?
A.H: I made the artwork when the music was done. I wanted a symbol to mirror the music I had created. So I came up with the upside-down hammer-cross… I wanted the art to give a promise to the person who would otherwise scroll past it.
6.With this project you record everything by yourself, are you open to working with other musicians or do you prefer to work solo?
A.H: I am not sure… Vider is something that comes from a very deep and dark place within me. And this far in life I have yet to find someone who can match and resonate with that part musically. I’m not interested in compromising with someone else when it comes to writing this type of music. But I do have some friends who will come with thoughts and ideas on how to improve on the music, which I take to heart and think about.
7.The physical version of the album was released on 'WolfKult Religion’. how did you get in contact with this label?
A.H: They reached out to me just a few days after the album was released on Bandcamp. The album ended up trending quite hard on Bandcamp, which would have helped WolfKult find it.
I’m happy they reached out, best underground label out there.
8.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of war, black and death metal?
A.H: So far I have only received positive feedback. The music seems to be resonating with people.
It’s streaming everywhere, and the physical copies has sold out as far as I know. I’ve been doing more than a couple interviews recently and I’m thankful to everyone who has showed interest, bought the album, bought shirts and talked about the music on streams, in magazines and comment sections.
9.Where do you see yourself heading into as a musician during the future?
A.H: I will continue chasing a state of controlled chaos and the ecstasy that comes with losing yourself in the creation of music.
10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
A.H: I think that many bands that I grew up listening to have contributed in some part.
It would be a long list… But bands like Entombed, Dismember, Archgoat, Bolt thrower, Watain, Terrorizer, Teitanblood, Proclamation, Conqueror, Revenge, Dio, Napalm Death, Nasum and Bathory, to name a few. I cant say that any one band in particular has had more influence than another.
I like the heavy riffs and simple song structures of Bolt thrower, the same goes for Archgoat.
The atmosphere of Watain, Bathory and Teitanblood.
The urge and unforgiving nature of Nasum, Terrorizer, Nails and Napalm Death.
Yeah… I think everyone of them had some major or minor impact on what I like about music, and how I write music.
What am I listening to nowadays… hmm… The last Teitanblood album is amazing, that one has been spinning a lot since it came out.
11.Does Occultism play any role in your music?
A.H: Yes, Occultism has always intrigued me. The idea of something unknown to most being present… And the thought to attempting to communicate and channel energy from that entity is an exciting thought to me.
