Uprising/III/AOP Records/2024 Full Length Review

 

  Uprising  are  a  solo  project  from  Germany  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  a  very  raw  and  atmospheric  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2024  album  "III"  which  will  be  released  in  July  by  AOP  Records.

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  some  melodies  also  being  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  and  the  clean  sections  also  bring  in  elements  of  shoegaze.

  Spoken  word  parts  are  also  utilized  briefly  while  the  synths  also  add  in  an  atmospheric  touch  when  they  are  utilized.  Clear  vocals  are  also  added  on  a  few  songs  along  with  the  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  in  the  faster  sections  of  the  album  also  giving  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  when  they  are  utilized.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  added  into  the  music  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with  some  tracks  also  adding  in a  small  amount  of  clean  playing  and  acoustic  guitars  as  well  as  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  social  and  political  criticism.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Uprising  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  atmospheric  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Eternal  Mantra"  and  "Brace  Yourself".  8  out  of  10.

Uprising/Self Titled/Tridroid Recordings/2017 CD Review

  Uprising  are  a  solo  project  from  Germany  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  satanic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  titled  album  which  will  be  released  by  Tridroid  Recordings  in  2017.

  Atmospheric  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  heavy  guitars  and  spoken  word  parts  a  few  seconds  later  and  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  black  metal  screams  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  dark  and  melodic  fashion  and  throughout  the  recording  you  can  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  music  also  gets  very  atmospheric  at  times  and  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  songs  and  some  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  as the  album  progresses  growls  can  also be  heard  briefly  and  a  later  song  also  introduces  clean  singing  onto  the  recording  and  classical  guitars  are  utilized  for  a  few  second  on  the  closing  track.

  Uprising  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw,  aggressive  and  melodic  and  also  brings  in  more  of  an  old  school  approach  which  also  gets  mixed  in  with  a  more  modern  sound,  the  production  sounds  very  powerful  while  the  lyrics  cover  Nihilism,  Satanism  and  Revolution  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Uprising  are  a  very  great  sounding  nihilistic,  satanic  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre, you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Uprise"  "Gather  The  Dark  Spirits"  and  "Behold  the  Eternity  Of  The  Stars".  8  out  of  10.
