Reshitivist Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the musical project?
Reshitivist is a one man blackened death metal project from Melbourne, Australia with dark music and lyrics that display a misanthropic and depressive attitude. Reshitivist is currently made up of multi instrumentalist and audio engineer "Bage".

2.How would you describe your musical sound?
A dark, drum and guitar driven, cold and heavy progression between various sub genres of death metal with a symphonic twist in some areas.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects you explore with your music?
Depresion, anarchy, transcendence, misanthropy, philosophy, why the fuck are others the ways they are?

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Reshitivisit'?
Reshitivist came from the TV show Trailer Park Boys. The word recidivist means one who offends and breaks the law constantly and often. My first project is called "Law Breaker", so I thought it was appropriate to follow up on that with Recidivist; but then out of the sake of tribute to TPB I called it Reshitivist. It's like recidivist but shittier ;)

5.With this project you record everything by yourself, are you open to working with other musicians or do you prefer to remain solo?
I'm in a number of bands with musicians of varying skill and background. I prefer making music myself.

6.You reside in both Australia and Siberia, what affect does this have on the musical style you play?
When in Siberia I play a lot of guitar and no drums. My music tends to sound happier in Siberia than when I'm home in Australia. Believe it or not, the winters in Australia feel colder and lonelier than in Siberia and I think that feeling of solitude cuts through my music a little more.

7.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black and death metal?
Pretty poor actually! I've had a few people from various parts of Europe who really like it and share it actively, but Australian's don't seem to get into it as much as I expected them too.

8.Are you involved with any other musical projects or bands or have been in the past?
In chronological order:
Trophyknife
Bear Witness
Caged Grave
Overpower
Bombs are Falling
Limnal
Phantom Panda Power Wizard Master Smasher

9.Where do you see yourself heading into as a musician in the future?
Not far from the comfort of my home studio, or wherever I want to go

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Viking Crown
Slaughter to Prevail
Pantera (all time fav)
He is Legend
Black Sabbath
Silencer

11.What are some of your non musical interests?
Gardening, law and legal research, audio engineering, cooking, learning, cannabis and DMT.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
Thanks for the interview and fight the power!

Reshitivist/Commencement By Failure/Sliptrick Records/2018 CD Review

Reshitivist  is  a  solo  project  that  is  based  in  both  Siberia  and  Australia  and  plays  a  mixture  of  depressive  black,  death  metal  and  grindcore  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2018  album  "Commencement  By  Failure"  which  was  released  by  Sliptrick  Records.

Nature  sounds  along  with  some  acoustic  guitars  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  high  pitched  screams.

Death  metal  growls  can  also  be  heard  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  grindcore  elements  along  with  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  bringing  in  more  of  a  depressive  black  metal  style  as  well  as  adding  atmospheric  synths  in  some  parts  of  the  tracks and  one  of  the  songs  sis  very  long and  epic  in  length.

Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  symphonic  elements  can  also  be  heard  briefly  along  with  most  of  the  tracks  sounding  different  than  each  other  and  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  as  the  album  progresses  and  when  tremolo  picking  is  utilized  it  also  gives  the  music  more  raw  feeling  as  well  as  the  riffing  also  getting  very  technical  at  times  and  there  is  also  a  brief  instrumental  before  returning  back  to  a  heavier  direction.

Reshivist  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  elements  of  the  symphonic  and  depressive  sides  of  black  metal  and  also  mixes  it  with death  metal  and  grindcore  as  well  as  some  technical  riffing  to  create  something  very  original,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  misanthropy,  depression,  anarchy  and  transcendence  themes.

In  my  opinion  Reshivist  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  depressive  black,  death  metal  and  gindcore  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  solo  project.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Unified  And  Destroyed"  "Disrupt  Order"  "The  Deluge"  and  "Resign".  8/2  out  of  10.
