Myronath/Inferno/Dusktone/2024 Full Length Review

 

  Sweden's  Myronath  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  an  occult  style  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2024  album  "Inferno"  which  will b e  released  on  May  31st  by  Dusktone.

  Dark  sounding  synths  and  ritualistic  spoken  word  parts  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  and  melodic  direction.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast beats  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Clear  vocals  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with  the  music  also  being  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  Swedish  tradition.

    All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  one  song  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  Gregorian  chants,  spoken  word  parts  also  return  on  some  of  the  later  tracks.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism  and  Left  hand  Path  themes..

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Myronath  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  occult  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "In  Lust  Entwined"  "The  Voracious  Sphere"  "The  Flaming  Tombs  of  Heresy"  and  "Apotheosis".  8  out  of  10.

Myronath/Djevelkraft/Hellstain Productions/2021 CD Review

 

  Myronath  are  a  band  from  Sweden  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  an  occult  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  album  "Djecelkraft"  which  will  be  released  in  June  by  Hellstain  Productions.

  A  very  heavy  and  melodic  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats.  When  tremolo  picking  is  utilized  it  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  the  music  is  also  heavily  rooted  in  the  Swedish  style.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  growls  are  also  utilized  at  times.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  some  ritualistic  and  melodic  chants  also  being  added  into  the  music  briefly.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with  a  couple  of  the  tracks  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  classical  guitars  and  clean  playing  and  a  couple  of  the  songs  are  also  long  and  epic  in  length,  as  the  album  progresses  a  brief  use  of  throat  singing  can  also  be  heard.  as  well  as  a  later  track  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  synths.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Luciferian,  Occult  Practices  and  Veneration  Of  Death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Myronath  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  Swedish  and  occult  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Evil  Unchained"  'Effigy  of  Malediction"  "The  Sword  of  Satan"  and  "Reborn  In  Chaos".  8  out  of  10.

Myronath Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

Myronath basically started early in 2019 when Malphas and I (Vargblod), discussed the options of starting a project together. We started writing some rudimentary material which immediately felt it had potential and a hidden energy in them. After just a couple of weeks Myronath took a turn to be a more serious project and soon ended up as a full band and an album was being produced in no time.



2.Recently you have released your first album, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style that is presented on the recording?

Myronath's view is that we do not want to present any new ideas into Black Metal. It is not our intent to explore new ways to play Black Metal, but we stand for what Black Metal is. The very dark side of our soul. The Darkness within the universe, and our music represents a way with which we channel our energies to this Darkness.


3.A lot of your lyrics deal with Luciferian, Qliphoth and Left hand Path themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the dark arts?

As mentioned before, our material represents ourselves, thus all songs are very personal and reflect our beliefs and ways of life. The subject is too deep to just explain it in an interview and some ideas and beliefs go beyond words.






4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Myronath'?

Myronath literally means The Hidden Temple, and it is the name given to our "coven" so to speak as the band represents a Temple where we venerate and channel our energies to the Divine.



5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the album cover?

The album cover was done by the talented Mordiggian Art. I was following the artist for some time and decided to contact him about the artwork for the album. He immediately understood what we needed and we must say we are very pleased with the result. All of the inside artwork then in the booklet was done by me.



6.So far there are only 2 members with some session musicians filling in at times, are you planning on expanding into a full line up?

There are actually discussions going on this very moment about this issue. We shall soon make some announcements.



7.Has the band had any opportunities to do any live shows yet?

We just played our first live show (and Debut CD Launch) last week at Mörkaste Småland Festival in Hultsfred- It was a hell of an event, and the crowd really showed their support to us! It was definately a night to remember and we have some other gigs coming up in the pipeline, so keep an eye open for an imminent announcement!


8.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?

Overall we got a very positive feedback from the fans and critics! Opinions vary of course, and that is the beauty of music because it speaks to a person differently, according to the listener. But I must say that the album seems to be getting recognition in a positive way overall, which makes us believe evenmore in what we are doing... and drives us to continue on our Path.




9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Musically we have actually already started writing the second album. As an artist you cannot control when the inspiration (or the urge) comes to you, so at the moment we are writing new material and I have to say I am very happy with how things are coming out. We are also discussing gigs for 2020, so definitely Myronath shall be very active in the coming year.



10.Both of the band members are also involved with other bands or musical projects, what is it that you bring into the music of 'Myronath' that you are not able to bring into your other groups?

Myronath actually brought us together in a weird way. For me there was an issue where certain topics and areas did not quite fit with the other music I was composing, especially Draugul, so when the chance came to start Myronath, I immediately saw that this was the missing piece in my puzzle, so to speak, Myronath connected what was missing between my musical world and my spiritual side.


11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Well... more than influence, i like to use the word inspiration. There are many bands who inspire me do do the music, as well as the other members in Myronath. We do not really have a main band as inspiration, and sometimes you cannot control from where the inspiration comes from. Sometimes it even comes from a weird sound you hear on the street, or even looking at a certain landscape, if you get my drift, but of course bands like Bathory, Mayhem, Burzum, Dissection, etc have all contributed in building the foundations of what we call Black Metal today, and it is hard not to be inspired by them as well!

  Myronath  are  a  band  from  Sweden  that  plays  an  occult  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2019  album  "Into  The  Qliphoth"  which  will  be  released  in  October  by  Non  Serviam  Records.

  A  very  dark,  heavy  and  melodic  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  grim  black  metal  screams  being  introduced  into  the  music  a  few  seconds  later.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of a   raw  feeling.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to them  while  growls  are  also  added  into  some  parts  of  the  music.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  some  semi  clean  singing  and  spoken  word  parts  also  being  used  briefly.
