Malvm Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

We originated Malvm for create an atmosphere which completely change our previously evolved picture about darkness and infinite unknown. Music is the key what we can raise with to levels where we are going to be able to coalesce with darkness.

2.So far you have released a demo and an ep, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on both of the recordings?

The Demo demonstrates a very raw atmosphere. Mid tempo stamping and nordic melodies are presented on it. Sound and tempo are the same on the whole record. We didn’t care about diversity. This is a demo disc. Raw, rough and simple. On Cvltvs Diaboli we focused more on the sound and improved the dynamics as well.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?

The lyrics are the spread of hateful and misanthropical aloud and total negativity, continuous inner advancement, projections and figurative interpretations of satanism in the process of different influences and cognition.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Malvm'?

It comes from a former member HL, who has quit since then. I would quote his words: In Az okkult tudományok kézikönyve* it is the comprehensive definition in one diagram(?) of Alsó áramlások and according to our lyrics we could hardly find a better name.

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?

The first three concerts were perfect for gaining experience, but I wouldn’t call them performances. We needed some time at the start of the road to find out what we want from ourselves exactly. Unfolding went better at the following show. Now the fix long time stage performance is getting outlined. We try to pay attention for every little particulars to transmit the mood we’d like to suggest with our music

6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

We”re gonna have a gig with Sekhmet (CZ) in May and don’t have any further plans.

7.Neverheard Distro are re-issuing your ep, are you happy with the support that they have given you so far?

Of coure we’re glad and thakful for the helpful work to NHD.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?

I think we got a lot of positive criticisms, reflections and requests.

9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

The new songs are different in structure and mood from the old ones, however in some points persists to them. We’d like to suggest a darker and more elevated atmosphere. The new album will be created according to this. Some of them could be heard in our concerts.

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

I think there are a lot of excellent bands in Hungary and I’m glad that in our country an incredibly strong Black Metal scene has been evolved. It’s important to mention the nordic (Icelandic, Finnish and Norwegian) and Czech tends which have a great effect on us.

11.How would you describe your views on Satanism?
The internal liberation, the key to true freedom, that opens the forbidden truth of mysterious doors reveals the gloom repelled worlds cosmic lies. An endless internal development along the path of chaos. Eternal inner advancement heading on the path of chaos.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

With persistence, true faith and to dematerialize confident advancement will be reached time after time.Keep the Black Flame burning!

Malvm/Cvltvs Diaboli/Neverheard Distro/2017 EP Review

Malvm  are  a  band  from  Hungary  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  melodic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2017  ep  "Cvltvs  Diaboli"  which  will  be  released  on  February  28th  by  Neverheard  Distro.

Ambient  soundscapes  start  off  the  ep  before  adding  in  some  heavier  riffing  and  after  awhile  grim  black  metal  screams  are  added  onto  the  recording  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard.

During  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  the  music  has  more  of  a  raw  black  metal  feeling  along  with  the  riffs  also  bringing  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  while  the  music  also  brings  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  you  can  also  hear  a  lot  of  90's  influences  in  the  bands  musical  style  and  the  guitar  solos  also  stick to  a  very  melodic  fashion  and  the  vocals  also  get  very  deep  at  times  and  ambient  soundscapes  also  return  on  later  songs  and  one  of  the  tracks  is  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

Malvm  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw  and  melodic  in  the  old  school  tradition,  the  production  sound s very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics are  written  in  Hungarian  and  cover  Satanism,  Misanthropy,  and  Darkness  themes.

In  my  opinion  Malvm  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  melodic  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ordogtal  Valo"  and  "Mereg".  8  out  of  10.
