Bergthron are a band from Germany that h as had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording plays a very atmospheric and progressive from of black metal and this is a review of their album "Neu Asen Lland" which will b e released in 2025 by Tollzorn Records.
Epic and atmospheric sounding keyboards start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. Vocals are a mixture of angry sounding black metal screams and clear pagan vocals while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
At times the recording also gets very progressive sounding while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody. Clean playing is also added on some of the tracks along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can also be heard and most of the album sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction.
On this recording Bergthron brings in more of a modern atmospheric and progressive style of black metal which is very different from their previous releases. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in German and cover Norse mythology, Northland and Nature themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Bergthron and if you are a fan of atmospheric and progressive black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE " Aufbruch nach Neu Asen Land«Von Pol zu Pol" " Schiffbruch im Sonnengrab«Wrackmente»" and "Skaldenruhm erstarrt in Zeit«Arktischer Sarkophag»". 8 out of 10.
