Perdition's Mire are a band from Denmark that plays a very atmospheric and mid tmpo form of black metal and this is a review of their 2024 ep "Into A Dark Heartland" which will be released in December by Headkick Music.
Clean playing starts off the ep before going into a heavier direction while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams mixed in with some angry shouts and when the music speeds up a small amount of blast beats can also be heard.
Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the music also has its atmospheric moments. Most of the recording is also very heavily rooted in the modern era along with some synths also being utilized briefly, when deeper vocals are utilzied they also add in a touch of death metal.
When tremolo picking is added into the fast riffing they also give the music more of a raw feeling when it is introduced on one song. Most of the ep sticks to a mid tempo direction and when the solos and leads are finally utilized they are also done in a very chaotic yet melodic style., spoken word parts are also added on the closing track The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover darkness and death themes.
In my opinion Perdition's Mire are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Pale light And Settling Dust" and "Into A Dark Heartland". 8 out of 10.
