Wuldorgast are a duo from the United States that plays an old school form of black metal and this is a review of their 2024 album "Cold Light" which will be released in December by Iron Bonehead Productions.
Wind and rain sounds start off the album before going into a heavier direction while a couple of tracks are also very long and epic in length. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the music is very heavily rooted in the 90's era and the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style.
When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some atmospheric nature orientated soundscapes also being utilized briefly and most of the album also sticks to a heavier direction, one song also shows the vocals going into more of deeper yet angry style.
Wuldorgast plays a style that goes back to the mid 90's and early 2000's era of the genre. The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover nature and darkness themes.
In my opinion Wuldorgast are a very great sounding old school black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUD E "Obscured In Shadows" and "Dawn Of The Black Sun". 8 out of 10.
