Ewigkeit/Out Of The Woods/D.T.M Productions/2022 EP Review

 

  United  Kingdom's  solo  project  Ewigkeit  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  an  experimental,  avant  garde  and  progressive  form  of metal  with  some  touches  of  black  metal of  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  022  ep  "Out  Of  The  Woods"  which  will  be  released  on  July  23rd  by  D.T.M  Productions  and  consists  of  tracks  originally  written  for  Norway's  In  The  Woods.

  Heavy  riffing  and  clear  vocals  start  off  the  ep  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  melody.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with the  music  also  having  its  experimental  and  avant  garde  moments  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  progressive  sounding  while  one  track  also  adds  in  a  brief  use  of  grim  black  metal  screams.  The  songs  also  bring  back  some  of  the  style  In  the  Woods,  Tiamat  and  Katatonia  experimented  with  in the  mid  90's  when  they  where  moving  away  from  an  extreme  metal  style,  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  small  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  ep more  of  a  raw  feeling.  

  On  this  recording  Ewigkeit  goes  for  more  of  the  modern  direction  In  The  Woods  went  on  recent  releases  but  with  more  black  metal  touches  than  their  newer  material.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  chaotic  events.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Ewigkeit  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  experimental,  avant  garde  and  progressive  metal  with  some  black  metal  touches,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Evergreen".  8  out  of  10.

Ewigkeit/Depopulate/Death To Music Productions/2021 EP Review

 

  United  Kingdom's  Ewigkeit  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  melodic  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a review  of  his  ep  "Depopulate"  which  will  be  released in  2021  by  Death  to  Music  Productions.

  A  very  hard  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  black  metal  screams. The  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  while  the  music  also  shows  an  influence  of  the  Swedish  melodic  death  metal  style  and  the  solos  and  leads  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of melody.

Some  of  the riffing  also  adds  in  a  touch  of  thrash  metal  while  one  of  the  tracks  also  introduces  spoken  word  parts  onto  the  recording.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  along  with  some  of  the  tracks  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  synths  as  well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  most  of  the  music  sticks  to  a  mid  tempo  direction,  when  the  music  finally  speeds  up  a  small  amount  of  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking  can  also  be  heard.

  On  this  recording  Ewigkiet  goes for  more  of  a  melodic  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  which  is  also  different  from  his  previous  releases  which  where  in  a  more  experimental  direction.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  post  COVID19  conspiracy  theories.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Ewigkeit  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  melodic  black  and  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Patent  of  Death"  and  "The  Great  Reset".  8  out  of  10.

Ewigkeit/23/Death To Music Productions/2020 EP Review

  United  Kingdom's  solo  project  Ewigkeit  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  a  70's  trip  rock  style  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2020  ep  "23"  which  will  be  released  in  September  by  Death  To  Music  Productions.

  Heavy  yet  melodic  riffing  starts  off  the  ep  while  the  vocals  are  done  in  mostly  a  clean  style  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  70's  or  stoner  metal  edge.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  yet  retro  style.

  Some  of  the  slower  riffs  also  capture  the  heaviness  of  doom  metal  while  some  songs  also  capture  a  science  fiction  orientated  atmosphere.  At  times  the  music  also  captures  more  of  a  trippy  and  psychedelic  rock  vibe  along  with  all  of  the  tracks  also  sticking  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction.

  On  this  recording  Ewigkeit  moves  away  from  their  experimental  or  black  metal  style of  previous  releases  and  go  for  more  of  a  doom/stoner  metal  style  mixed  in  with  some  elements  of  70's  rock  and  proto  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the lyrics  are  a  concept  album  based upon  the  'Illiminatus  Trilogy'  which  was  written  by  Robert  Anton  Wilson  and  Robert  Shea.   

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Ewigkeit  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  doom,  stoner,  proto  metal  and  70's rock, you  should check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "God's  Lightning"  and  "Gravity  Train  To  Agartha".  8  out  of  10.

Ewigkeit/Land Of Fog 20/20 ReVision/Death to Music Productions/2020 Re-Recorded Album Review

  United  Kingdom's  solo  project  Ewigkeit  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  is  also  a  re-recording  of  his  2000  album  "Land  Of  Fog" which  shows  him  updating  his  synth  style  of  black  metal for  the  modern  era  and  the  album  will  be  released  in  February  by  Death to  Music  Productions.

  Ambient  style  soundscapes  and  synths  start  off  the  album  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  along  with  some  spoken  word  parts  a  few  seconds  later.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  as  well  as  some  clean  vocals  also  being  utilized  at  times.

  Psychedelic  sounds  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  the  music  also  has  its  symphonic  moments.  When  guitar  solos   and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with  some  tracks  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing  and  whispered  vocals  and  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking  can  be  heard  during  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  United  Kingdom's  solo  project  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  is  a  re-recorded  version  of  his  1999  album  "Starscape"  with  the  new  version  being  an  updated  take  on  his  older  material  which  where  also  in  an  early  style  of  experimental  black  metal  and  the  album  is  called  "Starscape  2.019"  and  will  be  released  in  September  by  Death  To  music  Productions.

  Sci-fi  orientated  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  musical  direction  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams.  When  synths  are  utilized  they  also  give  the  music  more  of  an  atmospheric  and  symphonic  feeling  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody.

  Spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  in  some  parts  of  the  music  along  with  a  couple  of  the  tracks  being  long  and  epic  in  length.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  when  the  music  finally  speeds  up  blast  beats  are  added  onto  the  recording.

  A  couple  of  songs  are  instrumentals  as  well  as    elements  of  electronic  music  can  also  be  heard  on  some  of  the  later  tracks  along  with the  music  also  keeping  most  of  its  90's  influences,  when  tremolo  picking  is  utilized  briefly  it  gives  the  music  more  of   a  raw  feeling  and  one  track  also  introduces  clean  playing  onto  the  recording.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  space,  metaphysical  and  mythological  themes.

  United  Kingdom's  solo  project  Ewigkeit  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  experimental  black  metal  style  of  his  previous  release  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2019  ep  "Declassified"  which  was  released  by  Death  To  Music  Productions  and  consists  of  2  songs  from  his  last  full length,  Hawkwind  and  Saxon  covers  and  a  dub  remix  of one  of  his  own  original  tracks.

  Heavy  riffs  along  with  some  atmospheric  sounding  synths  start  off  the  ep  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  blackened  metal  screams.  Clean  vocals  are  also  used  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  along  with  the  slower  riffs  showing  an  influence  of  doom  metal  and  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

  The  riffs  also  bring  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  while  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording.  Psychedelic  elements  can  also  be  heard  in  some  parts  of  the  recording  along  with  a  brief  use  of  acoustic  guitars  and  at  times  the  music  also  gets  very  experimental  sounding.

  United  Kingdom's  Ewigkeit  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  band  expanding  on  the  experimental  style  of  black  metal  from  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  album  "DISClose"  which  will  be  released  in  2019  by  Death  to  Music.

  Am  Radio  sounds  and  spoken  word  samples  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  programmed  beats  and  atmospheric  sounding keyboards  a  few  seconds  later  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  as  well  as  the  vocals  being  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams.

  Most  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  clean  vocals  are  also  utilized  at  times  along  with  the  riffing  sticking  to  more  of  a  mid  tempo  direction  along  with  some  acoustic  guitars  also  being  used  briefly  as  well  as  the  music  also  getting  very  experimental  and  progressive  on  most  of  the  tracks.

  On  this  recording  Ewigkeit  expands  on  their  experimental  style  of  black  metal,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  a  concept  album  based  upon  the  growing  movement  of  modern  UFology.

Ewigkeit/Battle Furies 2.107/Svart Records/Death To Music Productions/2017 CD Review

  Ewigkeit  are  a  solo  project  from  the  United  Kingdom  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  90's  style  of  keyboard  orientated  black  metal  on  this  recording  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2017  album  "Battle  Furies  2107"  which  will  be  released  in  October  as  a  joint  effort  between  Svart  Records  and  Death  To Music  Productions  and  is  also  a  re-recording  of  his  1997 album.

  A  very  heavy  sound  along  with  some  melodic  guitar  leads  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  grim  black  metal  screams  a  few  seconds  later  while t he  riffs  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  and  when  synths  are  utilized  they  give  the  music  more  of  an  epic  feeling  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard.

  When  tremolo  picking  is  utilized  during  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  it  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  while  battle  sounds  can  also be  heard  briefly  and  the  music  also  brings  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  male  and  female  clean  vocals  can  also  be  heard  on  some  of  the  tracks.

  As  the  album  progresses   acoustic  guitars  and spoken  word  parts  along  with  some symphonic  elements  are  also  brought  into  the  songs  while  a  couple  of the  later  tracks  is  also  instrumentals  which  also  is  done  in  a  prog  rock  direction  and  the  other  one  is  done  in  more  of  an  ambient  style  and  the  album  closes  with  covers  of  Samael's  "Baphomet  Throne"  and  Therion's  "Paths"..


  On  this  recording  Ewigkeit  brings  back  his  1997  keyboard  orientated  black  metal  album  and  re-records  it  with  modern  technology  while  still  maintaining  an  old  school  vibe,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Paganism,  Metaphysical  and  Anti  Christian  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Ewigkeit  and  of  you  are  a  fan  of  90's  era  keyboard  orientated  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  re-recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Jewel  Of  My  Empire"  "Dragons  Burning"  "God  Of  Ages  Awakened"  and  "Baphomet's  Throne".  8  out  of  10.

Ewigkeit/Back To Beyond/D.T.M/2013 CD Review

  Ewigkeit  are  a  1  man  band  from  the  United  Kingdom  that  plays  a  very  atmospheric  and experimental  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2013  comeback  album  "Back  To  Beyond"  which  was  released  by  D.T.M.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  playing  with  some  blast  beats  being  utilized  at  times,  while  the  synths  and  soun  effects  bring  a  very  dark,  atmospheric  and  experimental  sound  to  the  music  as  well  as  a  brief  use  of  reggae  dub  elements,  as  for  the  bass  playing  it  has  a  very  strong  and  powerful  sound  with  heavy  riffing  that  dominates  throughout  the  recording.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  atmospheric  black  metal  riffs  that  also  utilize  melody,  experimental  and  avant  garde  elements  in  the  riffing  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  dark  and  melodic  sounding  post  black  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads, as  for  the  classical  guitars  when  they  are  utilized  briefly  use  finger  picking  and  full  chords  to  enhance  the  avant  garde  elements  of  the  album.

  Vocals  range  from  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams,  deep  growls  and  clean  singing  as  well  as  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  samples,  while  the  lyrics  cover  Metaphysical,  Spiritual  and  Occult  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy,  dark  and  professional  sound  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording  with  some  of  the  songs  being  long  and  epic  in  length.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Ewigkeit  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  enjoy  this  comeback  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Astral  Projection"  "The  Soul  Sustains"  and  "Det  Som  Engang  Var"  which  is  a  Burzum  cover.  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
