Hädangången/Vädjan/2026 Full Length Review

Sweden's  solo  project  Hädangången  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  very  raw, atmospheric  and  nature  orientated  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2025  album  "Vädjan".

Nature  sounds  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  Most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  angry  sounding  black  emtal  screams  and  blast b eats  are  added  into  the  faster  sections  of  the  recording.

When  tremolo  picking  is  added  into  the  fast  riffing  they  also  give  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  At  times  the  album  also  gets  very  atmospheric  sounding ,  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with  some  tracks  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  synths,  whispers,  spoken  words  and  clean  playing  and  there  are  also  a  few  instrumentals.

On  this  recording  Hädangången  continues  to  expand  on  the  raw  and  atmospheric  style  of  black  metal  that  he  has  introduced  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Swedish  and  cover  18th  and  19th  century  nature-romanticism,  death  and  desolation  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Hädangången  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  atmospheric  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Dekadens"  and  "Jordens  sista  suck".  8  out  of  10.

Hädangången/Tomhet/2024 Full Length Review

Hädangången  are  a  solo  project  from  Sweden  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  a  very  raw,  atmospheric  and  nature  orientated  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2024  album  "Tomhet"  which  will  be  released  in  November.

Nature  sounds  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  the  tremolo  picking  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  when  they  are  utilized.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  vocals  also  being  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  The  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  music  also  having  its  atmospheric  moments  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody, a  couple  of  the  tracks  are  also  instrumentals    and  synths  can  also  be  heard  as  the  album  progresses  and  adds  in  a  touch  of  ambient.

On  this  recording  Hädangången  remains  true  to  the  raw  and  atmospheric   style  of  black  metal  that  he  had  introduced  on  his  previous  release.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Swedish  and  cover  nature,  emptiness  and  isolation  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Hädangången  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  atmospheric  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "I  skuggan  av  mitt  hjärta"  and "I  ottan  är  du  kommen".  8  out  of  10.

Hädangången/Likfärd/2023 EP Review

Hädangången  are  a  solo  project  from  Sweden  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  atmospheric  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2023  ep  "Likfärd".

Nature  orientated  soundscapes  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  and  melodic  musical  direction.  All  of  the  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  tortured  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  the  songs  also  add  in  a  lot  of  old  school  influences.

When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  the  music  also  has  its  atmospheric  moments.  During  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling  along  with  a  couple  of  the  tracks  also  being  long  and  epic  in  length,  clean  playing  and  synths  are  also  utilized  briefly  as  well  as  one  track  also  being  an  instrumental  and  spoken  word  parts  are  also  added  towards  the  end.

Hädangången  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw,  atmospheric  and  traditional  sounding.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Swedish  and  cover  nature  themes.

In  my  opinion  Hädangången  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  atmospheric  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a f an  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Srgens  borg"  and  "I  nordens  dvala".  8 out  of  10.
