Heathen Beast/The Revolution Will Not Be Televised But It Will Be Heard/2020 Full Length Review

  India's  Heathen  Beast  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  their  mixture  of  black,  death  metal  and  grindcore  from  their  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of their  self  released  2020  album  "The  Revolution  Will  Not  Be  Televised  But  It  Will  Be  Heard".

  News  samples  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  back  up  shouts  are  also  utilized  at  times.  Percussion  can  also  be  heard  briefly  along  with  the  vocals  also  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  black  metal  screams  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  to  them.

  Death  metal  growls  can  also  be  heard  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  Spoken  word  samples  also  return  on  the  later  tracks  and  at  times  the  album  also  captures  the  brutality  of  grindcore  and  as  the  album  progresses  a  brief  use  of  clean  singing  can  also  be  heard

  On  this  recording  Heathen  Beast  have  remained  true  to the  mixture  of  black,  death  metal  and  grindcore  that  they  have  established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Indian  Culture,  Anti  Political  and  Anti  Religion  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Heathen  Beast  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black,  death  metal  and  grindcore,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Fuck  C.A.A "  "Fuck  Your  Self  Proclaimed  Godmen"  "Fuck  Your  Godi  Media"  and  "Fuck  The  Economy  (Modi  Already  Has)".  8  out  of  10.

Heathen Beast/2 Singles(Fuck All Religions Equally/Bloody Sabarimala/2019 Review

  India's  Heathen  Beast  has  returned  with  2  new  singles  which  where  self  released  in  2019  and  continue  the  mixture  of  black,  death  metal  and  grindcore  and  this is  a  review  of  both  of  their  new  songs.

 "Bloody  Sabarimala"

  Percussion's  and  ethnic  style  chanting  start  off  the  song  along  with  some  heavy  riffing  a  few  seconds  later.  Vocals  are  done  in  more  of  a  shouting  while  keyboards  and  melodic  riffing  can  also  be  heard  in  the  track,  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  briefly  as  well  as  the  vocals  being  a  vicious  aim  at  Hindu  beliefs  about  menstruation  and  women  purity 

 "Fuck  All  Religions  Equally".

  Death  metal  growls  start  off  the  track  along  with  some  shouting  vocals  a  few  seconds  alter  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  elements  of  black  metal  and  grindcore.  Melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  guitar  leads  being  done  in  a  technical  style  while  the  lyrics  attack  religion  as  well  as  both  of  the  tracks  having  a  very  professional  sounding  production  for  being  self  produced.

  In  my  opinion  this  are  2  very  great  sounding  tracks  from  Heathen  Beast  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black, death  metal  and  grindcore,  you  should check  out  these  singles.  8  out  of  10.

Heathen Beast/$cam/Transcending Obscurity India/2017 EP Review

  India's  Heathen  Beast  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  that  shows  the  music  going  into  more  of  a  blackened  grindcore  direction  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2017  ep  "$cam"  which  will  be  released  in  June  by  Transcending  Obscurity  India.

  Spoken  word  samples  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  heavier  grindcore  direction  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  the  riffs  also  bringing  in  the  more  raw  side  of  the  genre  and  melodies  can  also  be  heard  at  times.

  Deep  growls  are  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  the  songs  also b ring  in a   great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  sound  very  powerful  along  with  spoken  word  samples also  returning  on  some  of  the  later  tracks  and  some  of  the  songs  are  very  short  in  length.  and  the  fast  riffs  also  use  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  the  music  also  always  remains  heavy  and  when  guitar  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  fashion.

  Heathen  Beast  creates  a  recording  that  goes  for  a  mixture  of  black  metal  and  grindcore  this  time  around,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  corruption  of  the  government.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Heathen  Beast  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black  metal  and  grindcore,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE "Fuck  Poor  People,  I  Have Paymt"  "If  The  Army  Can  Do  It,  So  Can  Yoe"  and "My  Note  Has  GPS".  8  out  of  10.

Heathen Beast/Rise Of The Saffron Empire/Transcending Obscurity Distribution/2016 EP Review

  Heathen  Beast  are  a  band  from  India  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  mixture  of  black,  death  metal  and  ethnic  music  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  ep  "The  Rise  Of  The Saffron  Empire"  which  was  released  by  Transcending Obscurity  Distribution.

  A  very  heavy  and  melodic  sound  that  mixes  Indian  music  and  metal  together  starts  of  the  ep  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  black  metal  direction  that  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  high  pitched  screams  and  blast  beats  while  also  mixing  in  with  the  other  musical s tyle  that  is  very  very  huge  part  of  the  recording.

  A  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  can  be  heard  in  the  faster  riffing  and  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  more  of  a  melodic  fashion  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  you  can  still  hear  a  touch  of  death  metal  on  this  recording  while  the  music  is  more  blackened  than  than  previous  recording  and  at  times  the  drum  beats  have  a  tribal  feeling  to  them  while  the  last  track  also  adds  in  musical  instruments  from  the  homeland.

  Heathen  Beast  creates  a  recording  that  is  more  black  metal  than  previous  releases  while  still  mixing  in  the  ethnic  music  of  their home  country,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  political  corruption  of  an  extremist  Hindu  government.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Heathen  Beast  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black  metal  and  ethnic  music,  you  should  enjoy  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "The  Systematic  Annihilation  Of  Islam".  8  out  of  10.

Heathen Beast/Trident/Transcending Obscurity/2015 CD Compilation Review

  Heathen  Beast  are  a  band  from  India  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  with  elements  of  Indian  ethnic  music  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  compilation  album  "Trident"  which  was  released  by  transcending  Obscurity  and  consists  of  their  3  ep's  "Ayodha  Burns"  "The  Drowning  Of  the  Elephant  God"  and  "The  Carnage  Of  Godhra's"  and  only  the  first  2  ep's  will  be  reviewed  since  the  3rd  one  was  reviewed  a  few  months  back  and  here  is  a  link  to  it  http://occultblackmetalzine.blogspot.com/2015/05/heathen-beastthe-carnage-of-godhra2015.html.

  A  very  heavy  and  melodic  death  metal  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  using  a  great  amount  of  melody  and  once  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  blast  beats  are  utilized  along  with  the  guitars  also  bringing  in  exotic  sounding  scales  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  drums  also  bring  in  a  tribal  feeling  at  times  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  last  track also  brings  in  a small  amount  of  clean  playing,  death  metal  growls  and  ritualistic  yet  melodic  chanting.

  Protests  and  chants  start  of  the  second  ep  before  the  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  kick  in  and  the  music  starts  going  into  a  very  brutal  blackened  death  metal  direction  that  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  o  blast  beats  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording.

  At  times  the  guitars  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  melodies  at  times  and  a  couple  of  the  tracks  are  long  and  epic  in  length  and  after  awhile  tribal  beats  make  their  presence  known  on  the  recording  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  while  some  riffs  also  add  in  a  touch  of  thrash  and  as  one  of  the  tracks  also  brings  in  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing  along  with  more  traces  of  Indian  ethnic  music.

  Heathen  Beast  display  more  of  a  grim  black  metal  style  on  the  earlier  recordings  while  still  having  a  great  amount  of  death  metal  and  ethnic  music  elements  that  they  expanded  more  upon  on  the  current  release,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  on  the  ep's  while  the  lyrics  cover  Atheism,  Indian  Culture,  Mythology,  Society  and  History.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  anthology  of  Heathen  Beast's  present  and  current  releases  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black  and  death  metal  mixed  in  with  ethnic  music,  you  should  check  out  this  compilation.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Religious  Genocide"  and  "Contaminating  The  Ganges".  8  out  of  10.

Heathen Beast/The Carnage Of Godhra/2015 EP Review

  Heathen  Beast  are  a  band  from  India  that  plays  black  metal  with elements  of  death  metal  and  ethnic  music  and  this  is a  review  of  their  self  released  2015  ep  "The  Carnage  Of  Godhra".

  Spoken  word  parts  which  are  also used  on  other  songs  as  well  and  soundtrack music  sounds  start  off  the  ep  and  a  few  seconds  later  tribal  beats  are  introduced  into  the  music  along  with  some  heavy riffs,  melodic  leads  that  also  dominate  throughout  the  recording  and  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  the  music  also  brings  in  death  metal  growls  at  times.

  At  times  you  can  hear  traces of  ethnic  Indian  music  in  some  of  the  solos  and  leads along  with  some  musical  instruments  from  the  region  being  utilized  briefly  and  when the  music  speeds  up  the  songs  get  more  brutal  and  also  bring  in  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  and the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  the  songs  are also  long  and epic  in  length. 

  Heathen  Beast  plays  a  musical  style  that  is  mostly rooted  in  black  metal  but  also brings  in  the  brutality  of  death  metal  and  the  ethnic  music  of  their  home  country  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds very  powerful  for  being  a  self released  recording  while  the  lyrics  cover Atheism,  Indian  Culture,  Society  and  History. 

  In  my  opinion  Heathen  Beast  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black,  death  metal  and  ethnic  Indian  music  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "The  Carnage  Of  Godhra".  8  out  of  10.
