1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording of the new album?
We're currenlty promoting it, since our label Loudriver Records is run by us.
2.You have a new album coming out in July, musically how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?
"Lucífugo" is more straightfoward and diverse than "Vinda" was, it still has a lot of epic atmospheric elements but we combined symphonic ones and some doom here and there.
Whereas "Vinda" was more of a Summoning worship album, in this one we created our own thing.
3.This is your first release in 9 years, can you tell us a little bit more about what has been going on during that time frame?
In that hiatus, musically - we were working on other projects, I released one Efémero album and Trobador released Omitir, Gesso and Joel Fausto & Illusion Orchestra.
4.Over the years you have had some lyrics dealing with Paganism and occultism, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in those topics?
Paganism is only present on our first demo, it mirror some of our beliefs at the time, the interest in paganism is now pretty much gone, however I still dwell in occultism nowadays particularly in demonolatry, magick and gnosticism.
Since the first demo until "Vinda" we wrote lyrics based on the cosmos as a metaphor for Plato's metaphysic, which is still a relevant interest of mine.
My interest in these topics is ultimatly to try tear the last veil of this "un"existence, we're all dwelling in.
5.What are some of other lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored over the years with your music?
Since "Vinda" we created our own fantasy story that we're expanding in every album.
"Lucífugo" is divided in 2 parts, the first one is about the Ertzakwy, people of the underworld (think of hollow earth fiction), the people worship both the god of soul and knowleadge and the goddess of death and have their own myths and rites.
If you look at it, it's still Plato's metaphysics dressed up as fantasy narrative.
The second part is about the building of Ascralt, a huge tower made up of the Hastuvv's corpses (this links up to Uldene, the first track of "Vinda"), this tower belongs to Velmaer, unknown entities that are deemed as the wisest ones of that world (links up to Vinda track).
6.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?
The album cover is from Salvador Rosa, an italian painting of the 1600s.
The album cover expresses well the first part of the album I talked about earlier, the underground people leaving their cave.
Again you can draw some parallelism with Plato's allegory of the cave.
7.The last 2 albums where recorded as a duo, are you open to expanding the line up again in the future?
The only reason to expand the line up was if Antithesis, our previous bassist wanted to comeback.
We work fine as a duo, it's easier to convey an idea when there are only two people judging it.
8.The new album is going to be released on 'Loudriver Records', can you tell us a little bit more about this label?
Loudriver Records is our own label, a subsidiary of Slowdriver Productions.
It was started by Trobador when we realized that our deal with other labels wasn't cutting it and the albums we released weren't being promoted at all.
We had more promotion with "Vinda" alone, our first release through our label, then we had with all our previous works combined.
9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your newer music by fans of black metal?
It's still too early to say, the few reactions we had were positive but you never know.
10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
We don't know, really, we've some ideas but it depends on a bunch of factors.
In this new album we leaned a bit more to the symphonic aspect again, so perhaps we'll keep adding more of that, too early to tell.
11.What are some of the bands or musical styles the band members are listening to nowadays?
I've been listening to some deathcore stuff, Immortal Disfigurement, Worm Shepherd, Lorna Shore and alikes.
You know it's all about phases, now I'm on a deathcore phase, Before that, I was on a heavy metal phase with Saturday Night Satan, Creatures and Tokyo Blade.
12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
