1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new ep?
Greetings OBMZ,
We are still very focused on our latest release, having in mind that it is very recent and we are waiting for our tapes to arrive.
2.Recently you have released a new ep, musically how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?
MTWA brings the most distinctive soundscape we have ever reached. All about this release carries our personal “stains”.
Even though it differs sharply from our other releases it was a natural step to us.
The tripartite piece can be distinguished from our other works explicitly through things such as the absence of the “traditional extreme metal drums”, but we encourage the listener to perceive the other distinctions through listening.
MTWA was conceived as a manifold piece which brings to light variant elements in each experience.
3.A lot of your lyrics cover Anti Cosmic, Chaosophy, Occultism and Left Hand Path themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the dark arts?
We believe in the indissociable link between artistic efforts and the sorcerous praxis: Art being a receptacle to the unspeakable.
4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Isfet'?
“Isfet” evokes ambiguity: as a concept of amorality or as a deification of formlessness and unrestriction.
We never even though about another name after “Isfet” appeared to us.
5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new ep cover?
The artwork is almost as inexhaustible as the scope of our tripartite piece. Roughly it can represent the ordeal of the aimless through the allegory of the desert wanderer.
6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?
The few events in which we perform are surely memorable. We would highlight “Untrodden Pathways Festival”.
Our stage performance can be described as “intense”.
7.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
It is not something that we spend time planning. However, we are very interested in presenting our compositions live (as it explores a whole different perspective of the work).
8.In the earlier years the band had done some GG Allin, Mercyful Fate and Dissection covers, what was the decision behind doing your own version of their songs?
We were 15/16 years old at the time and Isfet had only 4 or 5 songs. Paying tribute to our first influences while filling the gaps in the setlist sounded good.
9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?
Isfet has a pretty solid and faithful small group of supporters in different parts of the globe.
10.When can we expect another full length and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
Both questions are things we cannot say with certainty.
As for the musical direction we can only affirm that our efforts are all directed against stagnation.
11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
At the time of “Mayest Thou Wander Aimlessly” we were mainly listening to 70’s stuff/Occult Rock (Floyd, Fields of The Nephilim, Pagan Altar, Current 93, The Devil’s Blood, Blue Öyster Cult …).
Also, we are really into the 90’s scene from the northeast of Brazil. Acts such as “Slavery” will be always remembered as representatives of soulful and unique music.
