This is a review of a split album between U.S.A's Wyrmoon and Skvm which will be released on November 24th by Syrup Moose Records and we will start off the review with Myrmoon a band that plays a mixture of black metal, crust and hardcore
Their side of the split starts out with a very dark yet heavy sound while the vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams which also shows an influence of hardcore. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style. Keyboards can also be heard briefly and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats and raw tremolo picking can also be heard as well a s adding in elements of crust, spoken word parts and clear are also used briefly. Th e production sounds very professional and the lyrics cover darkness and anti religion themes.
In my opinion Wyrmoon are a very decent sounding mixture of black metal, crust and hardcore and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RCOMMENDED TRACK "Night Breed".
Next up is Skvm who return with their red & anarchist style of black metal.
Their side of the split starts out with a very heavy and melodic style while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams. When the music speeds up a decent album of tremolo picking and blast b eats can b e heard which also gives the songs more of a r aw feeling along with one song also adding in choir samples. The production sounds very dark and raw and the lyrics cover anarchy themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Skvm and if you are a fan of red & anarchist black metal, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "War Is All I've Ever Known".
In conclusion I feel this is a very decent sounding split and I would recommend it to fans of the more left wing political side of black metal. 7 out of 10.
