Lifvsleda/Evangelii härold/NoEvDia/2024 Full Length Review

 

  Sweden's  Lifvsleda  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  a  raw  and  old  school  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2024  album  "Evangelii  härold"  which  will  be  released  on  April  30th  by  NoEvDia.

  A  very  fast,  raw  and  melodic  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Most  of  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  old  school  Scandinavian  tradition  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  and  a  couple  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  briefly  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  when  they  are  utilized.  Martial  beats  can  also  be  heard  on  a  couple  of  tracks  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  A  couple  of  songs  also  adds  in  a  small  amount  of  spoken  word  parts  along  with  one  track  also  introducing  a  small  amount  of  keyboards  into  the  music.  The  production  sounds  very  dark,  raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Swedish  and  cover  devil  worship  and  death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Lifvsleda  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  old  school  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Det  Perfekta  Sinnet"  "Griftefard"  and  "Helige  Dod".  8  out  of  10.

Lifvsleda/Sepulkral dedikation/NoEvDia/2022 Full Length Review

 

  Sweden's  solo  project  Lifvsleda  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  a  raw  and  old  school  style  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2022  album  "Sepulkral  dedikation"  which  will  be  released  in  April  by  NoEvDia.

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  music  also  adds  in  a  great  amount  of  90's  influences.  The  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  some  melodies  also  being  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.

  Synths  can  also  be  heard  briefly  on  a  couple  of  songs  along  with  the  music  also  adding  in  some  more  modern  touches  at  times  and  as  the  album  progresses  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Swedish  and  cover  death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Lifvsleda  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  old  school  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Lifvspänn"  "Dödspredikanten"  and  "Kallet".  8  out  of  10.

    

Lifvsleda/Det Besegrade Lifvet/Shadow Records/Regain Records/2020 CD Review

  Lifvsleda  are  a  band  from  Sweden  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  raw  and  old  school  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  album  "Det  Besegrade  Lifvet"  which  will  be  released  in  September  as  a  joint  effort  between  Shadow  and  Regain  Records.

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  grim  black  metal  screams.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Most  of  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Dark  sounding  melodies  are  also  added  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  one  track  also  introducing  clean  playing  onto  the  recording  as  well  a  couple  of  songs  also  adding  a  brief  use  of  melodic  yet  chaotic  sounding  guitar  leads  onto  the  album  and  spoken  word  parts  and  synths  can  also  be  heard  briefly  towards  the  end.

  On  this  recording  Lifvsleda  remains  true  to  the  raw  and  old  school  style  of  black  metal  that  was  established  ob  their  previous  release.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Swedish  and  cover  death  and  pestilence  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Lifvsleda  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  old  school  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "I  Fjarran  Jord  Begrafvid"  "Afvgrundsande"  and  "Vederkvickelse".  8  out  of  10.

  Lifvsleda  are  a  band  from  Sweden  that  plays an  old  school  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2019  ep  "Manifest"  which  will  be  released  on   December 13  as  a  joint  effort  between  Shadow  and  Regain  Records.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  ep  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  emtal  screams.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  The  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  when  guitar  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  raw  and  melodic  style,  the  closing  track  also  adds  some  dark  soundscapes  and  spoken  word  parts.

  Lifvsleda  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw  and  old  school  in  the  90's  Nordic  tradition.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Swedish  and  cover  Death  themes.

  in  my  opinion  Lifvsleda  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  old school  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  "I"  and  "III".  8  out  of  10.
