Exhumation/Funeral Chant/Sacred Oath: Temple Of Death/Carbonized Records/2026 Split Album Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Indonesia's  Exhumation  and  U.S.A's  Funeral  Chant  called  "Sacred  Oath:  Temple  Of  Death"  which  will  be  released  in  April  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Exhumation  a  band  that  plays  an  old  school  form  of  death  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  clear  chants  along  with  some  Asian  style  folk  instruments  a  few  seconds  later  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  The  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  death  metal  growls  and  the  solos  and  leads  stick  to  an  old  school  style.

  Most  of  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in t he  early  90's  style  along  with  some  spoken  words  being  used  briefly.  The  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  some  clear  singing  also  being  used  on  a  few  songs.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  death  and  darkness  themes. 

  In  my  opinion  Exhumation  are  a  very  great  sounding  old  school  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Master's  Prayer"  and  "Everlasting  Wall".

  Next  up  is  Funeral  Chant  who  return  with  their  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  heavy  and  brutal  sound  while  blast b eats  are  added  into  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs.  Dark  sounding  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  vocals  also  adding  in  a  mixture  of  death  metal  growls  and  black  metal  screams.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  sticking  to  more  of  an  old  school  death  metal  style  as  well  as  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  chaos  and  death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Funeral  Chant  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black  and  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Testimony  Of  Fire".  

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  black  and  death  metal.  8  out  of  10.

Midnight Odyssey/Swords Of Dis/Oros Kau/Serpent Ascending/From The Waters Of Death - A Retelling Of The Epic Of Gilgamesh/I, Voidhanger Records/4 Way Split Album Review

   This  is  a  review  of  a  4  way  split  album  between  Australia's  Midnight  Odyssey,  United  Kingdom's  Sword  of  Dis,  Belgium's  Oros  Kau  and  Finland's  Serpent  Ascending  with  the  album  being  called  "From  The  Waters  of  Death  -  A  Retelling  Of  The  Epic  Of  Gilgamesh"  which  will  be  released  in  February  by  I,  Voidhanger  Records  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  of Serpent  Ascending  a  solo  project  that  plays  death  metal.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  while  clear  male  and  female  singing  and  synths  are  also  used  at  times.  The  track  is  also  over  14  minutes  in  length  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  song  also  adds  in  a  lot  of  blast  beats  along  with  the  harsh  vocals  being  mostly  death  metal  growls.  At  times  the  music  also  gets  technical  sounding.

  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  track  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  as  well  as  the  guitar  leads  also  expanding  more  of  the  technical  approach,  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  briefly.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  Epic  Of  Gilgamesh. 

  In  my  opinion  Serpent  Ascending  a  very  great  sounding  death  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  looking  for  something  very  different  in  this  genre,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.

  Nest  up  is  Oros  Kau  a  solo  project  who  returns  with  a  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  song  also  add  in  a  lot  of  blast  beats.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  medal  screams.

  The  track  is  also  over  7  minutes  in  length  along  with  some  operatic  clear  singing  and  death  metal  growls  also  being  used  at  times.  The  song  also  adds  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts   as  well  as  the  music  also  adding  in  some  atmospheric  touches,  when  tremolo  picking  is  added  into  the  faster  riffing  they  also  give  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover the  Epic  Of  Gilgamesh.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  song  form  Oros  Kau  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black  and  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.

  Next  up  is  Swords  Of  Dis  a  duo  that  returns  with  a  mixture  of  black  and  doom  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  middle  eastern  style  folk  instruments  and  operatic  female  vocals  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  Clear  male  vocals  are  also  used  at  times  along  with  the  harsher  vocals  being  mostly  death  metal  growls  mixed  in  with  a  few  black  metal  screams.

  Both  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  the  slower  sections  of  the  music  bringing  in  elements  of  death  metal.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  give  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling,  spoken  words  are  also  used  briefly  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  adding  in  some  melodies.      When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  and  orchestral  sounds  can  also  be  heard  at  times. The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  Epic  of  Gilgamesh..  

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Swords  Of  Dis  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black  and  doom  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Blood  Stains  The  Altar  Of  The  Sun  And  In  Ishtar’s  Mourning  The  Feral  Lord  Of Desolation  Awaits  The  House  Of  Dust".

  Next  up  is  Midnight  Odyssey  a  solo  project  who  returns  with  his  ambient  and  cosmic  style  of  black  metal.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  epic  ambient  style  keyboards  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs.  Clear  singing  and  spoken  words  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  the  only  song  that  is  present  on  his  side  of  the  recording  is  also  over  20  minutes  in  length.

  Harsh  vocals  are  mostly  black  metal  screams  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  as  well  as  some  clean  playing  also  being  utilized  briefly,  when  the  music  finally  speeds  up  a  small  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  Epic  Of  Gilgamesh.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  track  from  Midnight  Odyssey  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  cosmic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  the  more  creative  sides  of  black,  doom  and  death  metal.  8/5  out  of  10.

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Japan's  Abigail  and  U.S.A's  Nekrofilth  called  "Fuck  In  Hell's  Evil  Bitches"  which  will  be  released  in  October  by  Hells  Headbangers  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Abigail  who  return  with  their  old  school  mixture  of  black,  thrash  metal  and  hardcore  punk.  

  Their  side  of  the  split  tarts  out  with  an  old  school  thrash  metal  sound  that  mixes  in  elements  of  80's  era  hardcore  punk.  Vocals  are  mostly  black  metal  screams  while  melodies  can  also be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  as  well  as  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  also  remain  true  to  an  old  school  style  along  with  all  of t he  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them,  when  tremolo  picking  is  added  into  the  faster  riffing  they  also  give  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  metal,  war  and  evil  themes.

  Next  up  is  Nekrofilth  a  band  that  plays  a  mixture  of  death  metal,  grindcore  and  crust  punk.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  heavy  and  old  school  sound  while  d  beats  and  elements  of  crust  punk  are  added  into  the  mid  tempo  sections  of  the  songs.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  their  side  of  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  blast  beats  are  added  into  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs.

  At  times  the  music  also  brings  in  the  brutality  of  grindcore  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  80's  era  death  metal  growls  and  screams  as  well  as  the  solos  and  leads  bringing  in  more  of  a  retro  extreme  emtal  style,  one  of  the  tracks  is  also  a Germs  cover.  The  production  sounds  very  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  death,  filth  and  violence  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Nekrofilth  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  death  metal,  grindcore  and  crust  punk, you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOKMNEDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Fuck  In  Hell"  and  "I  Feel  Nothing".

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Italy's  Theocodontion  and  U.S.A's  Ceremented  which  will  be  released  in  April  by  I,  Voidhanger  Records  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Thecodontion  who  returns  with  an  atmospheric  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  powerful  sounding  bass  guitar  which  is  used  as  a  lead  instruments  along  with  some  synths  and  keyboards  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  an  atmospheric  feeling.  Vocals  are  a  mixture  of  grim  black  metal  screams  and  death  metal  growls  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats.

  Melodies  can  also  be  heard  at  times  and  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  clear  vocals  are  also  added  on  the  closing  track.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  prehistoric  marine  arthropods  who  lived  during  the  Cambrian  Period.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Thecondontion  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric  black  and  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Hallucigenia".

  Next  up  is  Ceremented  who  return  with  their  mixture  of  doom  and  death  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  harsh  noises  while  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  in  the  background  briefly   before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  where  the  bas s guitars  take  over  as  a  lead  instrument.  Vocals  are  mostly  death  metal  growls  while  blast  beats  can  be  heard  when  the  music  speeds  up.

  Elements  of  doom  metal  can  also  be  heard  in  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  along  with  the  music  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  90's  era  influences  as  well  as  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  destructive  forces  of  nature  and  cataclysmic  events.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Ceremented  and  if  you  are  a  fna  of  doom/death  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Timeworn  Furtherance".

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  black,  doom  and  death  metal.  8  out  of  10.

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  ep  between  Ukraine's  Vidmershly  Shmat  and  Obrij  which  was  released  by  Neformat  Family  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Vidmershiy  Shmat  a  band  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black  and  sludge  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  folk  instruments  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and raw  musical  direction  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  as  well  as  some  death  metal  growls  also  being utilized  at  times  and  the  slower  sections  of  the  song  also  bring  in  elements  of  sludge  metal,  melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  and  all  of t he  musical  instruments  also have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  depression,  grief,  hopelessness  and  death  themes.

  Next  up  is  Obrij  a  band  that  plays  death  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  dark  yet  heavy  riffing  while  melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing  at  times.  Vocals  are  mostly  death  metal  growls  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  whole  track  sticks  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  and  the  lyrics  cover  witchcraft  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Obrij  are  a  very  great  sounding  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of t his  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  black,  sludge  and  death  metal.  8  out  of  10.

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Columbia's  Kathreptis,  Mexico's  Ni  Una  Menos,  Chorizo  Con  Papa,  Ecuador's  Black  Dracul,  and  Costa  Rico's  Drudenfuß  called  "Lords  Of  Kitsch"  which  was  released  by  Entocomophobic  Records  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Kathreptis  a  band  that  plays  a  mixture  of  death  metal  and  grindcore.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  powerful  sounding  bass  guitar  and  drum  beats  before  adding  in  some  guttural  death  metal  growls  while  high  pitched  screams  are  also  utilized  at  times  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  and  grindcore  elements  can  also  be  heard.

  All  of  their  tracks  are  short  in  length,  a  small  amount  of  melody  can  also  be  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing  as  well  as  the  solos  and  leads  being  done  in  a  very  chaotic  style  and  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  fast  parts.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics are  written  in  Spanish  and  cover  gore  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Ni  Una  Menos  are  a  very  decent  sounding  mixture  of  noise  and  grindcore  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ni  Una  Menos  en  el  Cementerio"  and  "Todas  Las Mujeres  Merecen  Ser  Violadas".

  Next  up  is Black  Dracul  a  band  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  blasphemous  form  of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  dark  and  distorted  sound  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.  All  of  the  drum  beats  are  also  programmed  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Throughout  their  side  of  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  At  times  the  vocals  get  very  deep  sounding  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  90's  influences  as  well  as  the  solos  and  leads  also  remaining  true  to  an  old  school  style, their  closing  track  was  recorded  live  and  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Spanish  and  cover  blasphemy,  Anti  Christianity  and  hatred  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Black  Dracul  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Blasfemia  Hipocresía"  and  "Abismos Infernales/ Putas".

  Next  up  is  Chorizo Con Papa  who  return  with  their  black  kitsch  abstract  metal  style.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  dark,  distorted  and  heavy  sound  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  depressive  black  metal  screams.  All  of  their  tracks  are  also  very  short  in  length  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them,  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  all  of  their  songs  stick  to  a  slower  direction.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  as  well  as  the  lyrics  being  written  in  Spanish  and  covering  depressive  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Chorizo  Con  Papa  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  depressive  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Itzel's  Death".

  Closing  the  split  is  Drudenfuß  a  solo  project  who  returns  with  his  raw  style  of  black  metal.

 His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  atmospheric  sounding  drones  along  with  some  programmed  beats  a  few  seconds  later.  before  adding  in  some  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  which  also  takes  the  music  into  a  heavier  direction  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  during  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs.

  When  tremolo  picking  is  utilized  it  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  along  with  the  music  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  90's  influences.  Throughout  his  side  of  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  acoustic  guitars  can  also  be  heard  briefly.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness,  war,  satanism  and  blasphemy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Drudenfuß  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Endless  War"  and  "Dead  For  My  Savior's  Will".

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  ep  between  Belgium's  Possession  and  France's  Venefixion  called  "Passio  Christi  Part  II/Necrophagous  Abandon"  which  will  be  released  in  November  by  Iron  Bonehead  Productions  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Possession  a  band  that  plays  a  raw  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  an  intro  that  is  mostly  bell's  while  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  horror  movie  style  keyboards  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  During  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  chaotic  yet  old  school  death  metal  direction.  Vocals  are  mostly  blackened  metal  screams  along  with  some  angry  tortured  shouts  also  being  used  at  times  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  elements  of  war  metal  as  well  as  the  music  also  being  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's.  and  the  second  track  adds  in a   small  amount  of  mid  tempo  riffing,  Gregorian  chants  can  also  be  heard  briefly  towards  the  end.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  possessions,  demonolatry  and  witchcraft  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Possession  are  a  very  great  sounding  old  school  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Stabat  Matter".

  Next  up  is  Venefixion  a  band  that  plays  an  old  school  form  of  death  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  horror  movie  style  keyboards  before  going  to  a  heavier  direction  on  the  second  track.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  while  the  vocals  are  death  metal  style  vocals  in  the  early  Morbid  Angel  style  reminding  me as  a  cross  between  earlier  David  Vincent  and  Mike  Browning.

  A  lot  of  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  both  the  mid  80's  to  early  90's  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies.  Throughout  their  side  of  the  split  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  the  solos  and  leads  also  remaining  true  to  a  melodic  and  old  school  style.  The  production  sounds  very  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  black  magick,  voodoo,  Breton legends,  curses  and  death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Venefixion  are  a  very  great  sounding  old  school  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Ripped  From  The  Cross".

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  old  school  black  and  death  metal.  8  out  of  10.

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Spain's  Judaswiege,  Moribundo,  Sonambula,  and  Barbarian  Swords  called  "Tetrarchia  Ex  Bestia"  which  was  released  by  Negre  planY  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Judaswiege  a  band  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black  and  thrash  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  fast  and  aggressive  sound  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  blackened  metal  screams  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  as  well  as  some  elements  of  first  wave  black  metal.

  Elements  of  thrash  metal  can  also  be  heard  on  their  side  of  the  split  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  the  music  also  having  a  good  amount  of  80's  and  90's  influences  but  also  keeping  modern  at  the  same  time,  melodic  yet  old  school  guitar  leads  are  also  utilized  at  times  and  death  metal  growls  are  also  utilized  briefly.  The  production  sounds  very  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  inquisition  and  heresy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Judaswiege  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black  and  thrash  metal,  you  should  check  out t heir  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Pear  Of  Anguish"  and  "The  Middle  Age".

  Next  up  is  Moribundo  a  band  that  plays  a  mixture  of  funeral  doom  and  death  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  horror  movie  style  soundtrack  synths  and  programmed  beats  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  brutal  musical  direction  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  while  also  introducing  death  metal  growls  onto  their  side  of  the  split  and  when  grim  vocals a e  utilized  briefly  they  add  in  a  touch  of  black  metal.

  Throughout  their  side  of  the  split  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  also  adding  in  some  elements  of  funeral  doom  metal.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  their  side  of  the  split  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  one  of t heir  tracks  is  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  the  guitar  leads  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  death  and  despair  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Moribundo  and  if  you  are  a f an  of  funeral  doom  and  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Amor/Entierro".

  Next  up  is  Sonambula  a  band  that  plays  a  mixture  of  sludge,  doom  and  death  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  tragic  sounding  keyboards  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  which  is  also  heavily  influenced  by  the  90's  style  while  the  vocals  are  a  mixture  of  death  metal growls  and  screams  as  well  as  some  blast  beats  being  added  into  the  faster  sections  of  their  songs.

  Elements  of  sludge  and  doom  metal  can  also  be  heard  in  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  at  times  as  well  as  the  tracks  also a dding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also h ave  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  The  production  sounds  very  old  school  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Spanish  and  cover  dark  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Sonambula  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  sludge,  doom  and  old  school  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Entranas".

  Closing  the  split  is  Barbarian  Swords  a  band  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  nihilistic  mixture  of  black,  doom  and  sludge  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  ritualistic  soundscapes  along  with  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing. All  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  both  of  their  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  as  well  as  the  vocals  being  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams.

  Elements  of  sludge  and  doom  metal  can  also  be  heard  in  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  along  with  the  guitar  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  dark  and  distorted  style.  Synths  are  also  utilized  at  times  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  which  also  add  in  a  touch  of  death  metal  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  small  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  song  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  mythology  and  war  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Barbarian  Swords  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black,  doom  and  sludge  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "The  Eternal  Axe  Of  The  Goddess".

In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  black,  sludge,  doom,  death  and  thrash  metal.  8  out  of  10.

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  ep  between  Turkey/Germany's  Hatevomit  and  U.S.A's  Nunslaughter  which  was  released  as  a  joint  effort  between  Grimm  Distribution  and  Metal  or  Die  Records  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Hatevomit  who  return  with  their  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  dark,  melodic  and  heavy  sound  while  the  vocals  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  bestial  growls.  A  small amount  of melody  can  also  be  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing  and  on  the  second  track  the  music  goes  into  more  of  a  faster  war/black  metal  direction.

  During  the  faster  sections  of  the  music  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  song  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  Black  metal  screams  can  also  be  heard  briefly  along  with  the  music  also  adding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  anti  religion,  hate  and  destruction  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Hatevomit  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  war,  black  and  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Necro  Future".

  Next  up  is  Nunslaughter  a  band  that  plays  an  old  school  form  of  death  metal  with  some  influences  of  black,  thrash  metal  and  punk.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  fast  riffing  and  blast  beats  while  the  vocals  are  done  in  more  of  a  screaming  style  that  adds  in  touches  of  black metal.  a  lot  of  the  music  also  shows  roots  in  the  mid  80's  to  early  90's  era  of  death  and  thrash  metal  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  melody.

  Throughout  their  side  of  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  music also  capturing  the  raw  energy  of  punk rock.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  satanism,  blasphemy,  anti  Christianity  and  Death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Nunslaughter  are  a  very  great  sounding  old  school  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Satanic  Slut".  8  out  of  10.

Ceremented/Malefic Levitation/Caligari Records/2019 Split Cassette Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  cassette  between  Phoenix,  Arizona's  Ceremented  and  Fresno,  California's  Malefic  Levitation  which  was  released  by  Caligari  Records  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Ceremented  a  band  that  plays  a  mixture  of  doom,  death  metal  and  punk.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  powerful  sounding  bass  guitar  sound  along  with  some  death  metal  growls  a  few  seconds  later  as  well  as  a  few  screams.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  while  touches  of  punk  and  grindcore  can  also  be  heard  at  times.

  In  some  parts  of  the  music  the  vocals  also  get  very  guttural  and  cavernous  sounding  along  with  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  being  very  heavily  rooted  in  doom  metal.  A  great  amount  of  90's  influences  can  also  be  heard  in  the  bands  musical  style  as  well  as  the  interlude  capturing  the  atmosphere  of  a  classic  horror  movie  before  returning  back  to  a  heavier  direction.  The  production  sounds  very  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  societal  collapse,  planetary  degradation,  misanthropy  and  death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Ceremented  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  doom,  death  metal  and  punk  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Altars  of  Waste"  and  "Earthen  Upheaval  Reclamation".

  Next  up  is  Malefic  Levitation  who  return  with  their  bestial  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  fast,  raw  and  brutal  war  metal  sound  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  bring  in  a  good  mixture  of  black  metal  screams  and  bestial  growls  along  with  some  of  the  riffing  also  adding  in a  small  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies.

  Throughout  their  side  of   the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts as  well  as  the  music  also  being  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  war  metal  style  and  showing  some  influences  from  both  the  Canadian  and  Austrian  styles  of  the  genre,.

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Ohio's  The  Wakedead  Gathering  and  Indiana's  Ecferus  which  will  be  released  in  November  by  I,  Voidhanger  Records  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  The  Wakedead  Gathering  a  solo  project  that  plays  a  mixture  of  doom  and  death  metal  with  a  touch  of  black  metal.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  dark  sounding  doom  metal  riffing  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  melodic  fashion  which  also  leads  to  a  heavier  direction  along  with  the  riffs  also  using  a  great  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  as  well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Vocals  are  mostly  deep  death  metal  growls  while  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  early  90's  along  with  the  songs  being  11  minutes in  length,  clean  guitars  can  also  be  heard  briefly  as  well  as  a  brief  use  of  grim  black metal  screams  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  small  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  are  based  upon  the  writings  of  H.P  Lovecraft.

  In  my  opinion  this  is   another  great  sounding  track  from  The  Wakedead  Gathering  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  doom/death  metal  with  a  touch  of  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.

  Next  up  is  Ecferus  a  solo project  that has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays more  of  a  raw  form of  black  metal  on  this  recording.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with a  very  raw  sound  along  with  some  grim  black  metal  screams  and  drum  beats  a  few  seconds  later  while  the  sounds  of  battle  can  also  be  heard  briefly  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  being  done  in  a   very  melodic  fashion  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  sound  very  powerful.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  while  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  a  good  mixture  of  both  old  school  and  modern  influences,  melodic  chants  can  also  be  heard  briefly  in  the  background,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  evolutionary  anthropology,  mythology  and  science  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Ecferus  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of raw  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Author  of  Destruction".

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  melodic  riffing  and  death  metal  growls  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  their  side  of  the  recording  and  they  also  get  some  of  the  black  metal  style  Witchcraft  is  known  for  and  screams  can  also  be  heard  at  times  and  the  solos  and  leads  also use  a  great  amount  of  melody  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  and  the  music  remains  very  heavy.

Age  Of  Agony  takes  their  old  style  style  of  death  metal  and  mixes  it  in  with  Witchcraft's  raw  black  metal s tyle  to  add  a  different  twist  on  the  songs.  the  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Hungarian  and  cover  paganism,  darkness  and  witchcraft  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Age  Of  Agony  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  old  school  death  and  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Hegyek  Felettem".

  Next up  is  Witchcraft  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  raw  style  of  pagan/black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  nature  sounds  along  with  some  synths  in  the  background  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  and  also  adding  in  blast  beats  and  chaotic  death  metal  style  guitar  leads  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  black  metal  screams  and  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  amount  of  melody  in  the  riffing  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Witchcraft  mixes  their  raw  black  metal  style  with  Age  of  Agony's  old  school  death  metal  approach  to  make  the  songs  sound  very  different,  the  production  sounds  very  old  school  while  the  lyrics  anti  christian,  death,  hatred  and  war  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Witchcraft  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black  and  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of t he  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "On  the  Way  Of  Hate".

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  death  metal  growls  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  brutal  direction  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  while  the  songs  also  bring  in a   decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while t he  solos  and  leads  bring  in  a  very  dark  and  melodic  style  and  high  pitched  screams  are  also  used  at  times  and  there  is  also  a  brief use  of  spoken  word  samples  and  all  of t heir  songs  stick  to  a  heavy  and  brutal  direction,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  death  and  suffering  themes.
