Hammerfilosofi/Secendus Adventus/2026 EP Review

  Norway/Italy's  Hammerfilosofi  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  an  orthodox  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2026  ep  "secendus  Adventus"  which  will  be  released  on  July  10th.

  Dark  soundscapes  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  done  in  more  of  an  angry  black  metal  style  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  Clean  playing,  spoken  words  and  chants  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  both  of  the  songs  are  re-recorded  tracks  that  where  a  part  of  their  previous  full  length.   

  On  this  recording  Hammerfilosofi  take  2  of  their  previous  tracks  and  re-record  them  with  a  newer  take  on  the  songs  to  create  a  heavy  released.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Death  and  Darkness  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Hammerfilosofi  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  orthodox  black metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "My  Blood  is  My  Voice".  8  out  of  10.

Hammerfilosofi/Signum/Osmose Productions/2025 Full Length Review

 

  Norway/Italy's  Hammerfilosofi  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  an  orthodox  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2025  album  "Signum"  which  will  be  released  on  Halloween  by  Osmose  Productions.

  A  very  dark  and  ritualistic  sound  starts  off  the  album along  with  some  synths,  bells  and  thunder  sounds  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  black  metal  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  angry  sounding  shouts  and  a  lot  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style  along  with  the  spoken  words  enhancing  the  ritualistic  side  of  the  album  when  are  utilized,  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

  On  this  recording  Hammerfilosofi  brings  out  a  very  modern  and  aggressive  style  of  orthodox  black  metal  which  also  captures  the  rawness  of  the  old  school  era.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  philosophical,  esoteric  and  mysticism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Hammerfilosofi  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  orthodox  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "A  Dance  Above  The  Abyss"  "Funeral  Veil"  and  "Premonitions  Long  Forgotten".  8  out  of  10.

Hammerfilosofi/SOLUS (Igne Natura Renovator Intrega)/ATMF/2024 EP Review

 

  Hammerfilosfi  are  an  international  duo  with  members  from  Norway  and  Italy  that  plays  a  very  orthodox  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2024  ep  "SOLUS  (Igne  Natura Renovator  Intrega)"  which  will  be  released  in  September  by  ATMF.

  Keyboards  start  off  the  ep  along  with  some  clean  playing  and  spoken  word  parts  a  few  seconds  later  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  done  in  more  of  an  angry  black  metal  style  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  as  well  as  the  songs  also  adding  in  both  modern  and  old  school  influences,  clear  vocals  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  some  of  the  harsh  vocals  also  add  in  a  few  screams.   

  On  this  recording  Hammerfilosofi  brings  in  a  very  aggressive,  modern  and  original  approach  to  their  orthodox  style  of  black  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  an  inward  journey  of  reflection  and  contemplation. 

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Hammerfilosofi  and  if  you  are   a  fan  of  orthodox  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  ":Hunt  Or  Be  Hunted"  and  "Epigone  Of  Tragedy".  8  out  of  10.

Hammerfilosofi/The Desolate One/ATMF Records/2023 Full Length Review

 

  Hammerfilosofi  are  a  band  from  Norway  that  plays  a  very  orthodox  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their 2023  album  "The  Desolate  one"  which  will b e  released  in  September  by  ATMF  Records.

  Dark  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  while  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  and  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.

  A  great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  a  couple  of  tracks  also  add  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing.  Touches  of  industrial  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  one  song  also  introducing  clear  vocals  onto  the  album  and  when t he  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard.

  Angry  sounding  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  the  faster  riffing  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling  Some  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  one  track  also  adds  in  touches  of  classical  music  as  well  as  some  tracks  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  synths,  melodic  guitar  leads  can  also  be  heard  briefly  towards  the  end.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  path  to  godhood.  

  In  my  opinion  Hammerfilosofi  are  a  very  great  sounding  orthodox  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE "The  Crossed  Bones"  and  "Abyssal  Season".  8  out  of  10.
