1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?
We just conmpleted The Uncreated Demo to showcase the new material. It's a preview of The Book Of The Worm album once we secure a label to release. Also playing shows as usual Hod is a live band so we hit the stage a lot. We have some new members we have Blackwolf on guitar and Del the Entity on drums. The band has become as solid as a rock now.
2. How would you describe the musical sound of the new demo and how it differs from previous releases?
It's sounds cliche but we have grown better as band. You can hear improvements on writing, playing and overall approach. Serpent was just the first bite. The Uncreated is the beast striking harder and faster.
3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the new release?
Occult and strange and distant lands. The band has taken a particular interest in H.P. Lovecraft's and Robert E. Howard's writings. So the influence of this has manifested into the lyrics. Tales of cosmic terror and barbarian quest. Tales of night rituals and strange effects of such forbidden knowledge.
4. I know that the band name came from Norse Mythology, what was it that interested you about this Norse God in order to name a band after him?
Hod is the blind god of darkness and winter. He was setup by Loki and paid the price for Loki's crime. He is not a celebrated god. But one who fell in disgrace and he was framed to top it off. He waits in Hell for his vengeance. We as individuals fell a parallel to his situation. Hard to explain. We did not want to go with a typical name. Something less common. But I must make something clear. We are not Viking or Norse themed band. We touch on it. But we cover many themes.
5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?
People tell us our shows are an assault. We bring the fire and passion of the old school to the modern stage. So expect headbanging and sheer mayhem. We encourage the crowd to react the same way. One of the things I hated about black metal was the boring crowd response. People standing around with arms folded. What type of maniacs act this way? Music should unleash passion and fire. I like crowds that react like Slayer crowds did back in the 80's! We had a killer run of shows when we toured with Marduk and Aura Noir. The Canadian crowds were killer. Shows in Houston, Texas always kill for us. So many shows it starts to run together.
6. Do you have any touring plans for the future?
Not at the moment. Once Book of the Worm is released we set up a campaign to conquer new lands.
7. Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label and if so what kind of label do you feel that would be a perfect fit for the music?
We need to a label who will back the band. A label that will give us opportunities to showcase us on the road. We would prefer to move up to a bigger label. But if someone smaller who really believes in the band wants us we would consider this as well.
8. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to the demo by fans of black and death metal?
Excellent. The only complaint is it too short! Well, that is why it is a demo. Many good things are brewing.
9. What is going on with the other musical projects these days?
T.A. our bass player plays in Ancient VVisdom, Beer our vocalist is still in Pillcrusher and Rancid Vat. Blackwolf plays in other bands I cannot think of the names at the moment. Punk rock stuff. Del plays in Engaged in Mutilating. super technical death metal. And I, Necron, only focuses on Hod. I brought the band forth from the Abyss. But I shall soon do a orthodox black metal project. When the time is right.
10. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?
Faster and Further into the black abyss.
11. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
As I can only speak for myself on this I can say Slayer, Mayhem, Deicide, Morbid Angel, Dissection, Destroyer 666, Angelcorpse, Celtic Frost, Necrovore, Bathory, Marduk, Darkthrone, Destruction, and the list could go on and on. As the newer bands I listed I would say they inspired me more than influenced me. What I have been listening to lately would be Impiety, Adorior, In Solitude, Imprecation, Watain, Birth AD, Degial, Ravencult, Aosoth and Centurian.
12. Does Satanism or Occultism play any role in your music?
Yes.
13. Outside of music what are some of your interests?
H.P. Lovecraft and Conan the Barbarian. Horror movies. Drugs. WWII. Pagan history.
14. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
