Synths start off the album before going into a heavier direction while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with the recording also adding in elements of shoegaze and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding while the riffs also add in a great amount of melody. Clean playing and acoustic guitars are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording along with some of the tracks also being very long and epic in length. programmed beats are also used quite a bit throughout the album as well as few songs also adding in a small amount of clear female and male vocals and each song also sticks to a slower direction.
Sternweh plays a musical style that takes an atmospheric form of black metal and mixes it with shoegaze to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in German and cover cosmic longing, escapism and emotional isolation themes.
In my opinion Sternweh is a very great sounding atmospheric mixture of black emtal and shoegaze and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Mehr als Verstand" "Ruf aus dem Moor" and "Sterngeborgen". 8 out of 10.
