Sanguinem Daemonus Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

Sanguinem Daemonus as a name and concept was created in 2015... But as a band was finally created in 2017.  From day 1 we start composing what would be "Funeral Path of Illumination"

2.In 2018 you put out your first release, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style you went for on the recording?

We wanted just to be BLACK METAL, always with ritualistic influences, in our view black metal it´s spiritual music. Deeply linked to black metal roots, but with our own twist to it.

3.Your lyrics cover a lot of occult and left hand path topics, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the black arts?

I come from a family with tradition in practicing "occult" right hand activities... But my path was always to the other side, so the occult has always be a part of my life. Now i have many years walking the left hand path, so i keep studying and going deeper.  The other members of the band share in different degrees this interest, so this can be express in our music and lyrics.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Sanguinem Daemonus'?

The inspiration is the eternal link that´s created through blood offering that join us with "demons" and entities from beyond.

5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the ep cover?

The artwork represents the path to Qayin, the first illuminated by the outer light.

6.From the pictures I have seen of live performances that the band has played I have noticed that you wear some cloaks onstage, what you consider your shows more of a live ritual?

Has i already mention it, for us it´s ritualistic and spiritual aspects in black metal are fundamental. That´s why every time we play live, we perform a true ritual.

7.Out of all the shows the band has played so far, which one did you enjoy the most?

Our debut! ... The connection of our ceremony and the public was impressive, besides a great work in the material aspects of the show (good equipment, total support from the staff, etc)

8.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

At the moment we haven´t prepare or plan a real tour. Just some sporadic shows in the following months.

9.On the ep you had also done a 'Behexen' cover, what was the decision behind doing your own version of one of their songs?

Rituale Satanum was an album that made a very strong impact on me (and the other members of the band). So we decide to offer a tribute to them.

10.Currently the band is signed to 'Black Funeral Productions', can you tell us a little bit more about this label?

We had a natural connection with "Black Funeral Productions" since the moment we share our music with them. We like that releases are in limited editions and how they have connected with the right people to promote our album.

11.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?

It has been quite good, has i commented in the previews question, Black Funeral did a good job in contacting the correct people. We even found a review from our release in an Hungarian page.

12.When can we expect a full length and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

We are currently working in our full length, we hope to finish all recordings this year... Expect deeper abyssal and ritualistic black metal.

13.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Our main influences are finish, Swedish and Greek occult black metal, Acherontas, Behexen, come particularly to my mind.... other style that may have influenced our music could be doom death metal... Nowadays i have listen a lot to old Rippikoulu, 13th Moon and Acherontas most recent release.

14.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Thanks for your time... May your path be enlightened by the black light.

Sanguinem Daemonus/Funeral Path Of Illumination/Black FuneralProductions/2018 EP Review

Sanguinem  Daemonus  are  a  band  from  Mexico  that  plays  an  occult  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  ep  "Funeral  Path  Of  Illumination"  which  was  released  by  Black  Funeral  Productions.

Ritualistic  and  demonic  sounds  start  off  the  ep  along  with  some  shamanistic  style  percussion  a  few  seconds  later  before  going  into  a  heavier  musical  direction.  Most  of  the  tracks  are  long  and  epic  in  length  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  while  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  The  riffs  also  bring  in  a  decent  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  along  with  the  music  also  bringing  in  a  good  mixture  of  both  modern  and  old  school  influences.

Sanguinem  Daemonus  plays  a  style  of  occult  black  metal  that  is  very  raw  and  melodic  sounding.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the lyrics  cover  Luciferian,  Left  Hand  Path  and  Occultism  themes.

In  my  opinion  Sanquinem  Daemonus  are  a  very  great  sounding  occult  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Spell  Of  Hellfire"  and  "Towards  The  black  Cross".  8  out  of  10.
