Tot aus dem Wald/Satan No Mono/Wolfmond Production/2022 Full Length Review

 

  Germany's  solo  project  Tot  aus  dem  Wald  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  a  raw,  old  school  and  misanthropic  style  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2022  album  "Satan  No  Mono"  which  will  be  released  on  December  22nd  by  Wolfmond  Production.

  A  horror  movie  orientated  atmosphere  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast,  raw  and  melodic  musical  direction  which  also  utilizes a   great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  the  music  also adds  in  a  great  amount  of  old  school  influences.

  Touches  of  Japanese  folk  music  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  the  music  also  has  its  lo-fi  moments.  Throughout  the  recording  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  one  song  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  shouts  and  when  percussion  and  chants  are  utilized  they  also  give  the  music  more  shamanistic  and  ritualistic  touches.   

  On  this  recording  Tot  aus  dem  Wald  adds  touches  of  Japanese  folk  music  into  his  misanthropic,  old  school  and  raw  style  of  black  metal  to  create  something  very  different  from  his  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  German  and  cover  Japanese  Folklore  and  Mythology  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Tot  aus  dem  Wald  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  misanthropic,  old  school  and  raw  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Oni,  wollen  zerreissen  wollen  zerfetzen"  "Tengu,  die  Nase  des  Todes"  and  "Uba-Yama,  ein  vertikates  Massengrab".  8  out  of  10.

Tot aus dem Wald/Disziplin Des Hohen Feuers/Wolfmond Production/2021 Full Length Review

 

  Tot  aus  dem  Wald  are  a  solo  project  from  Germany  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  a  very  raw,  misanthropic  and  old  school  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  album  "Disziplin  Des  Hofen  Feuers"  which  was  released  by  Wolfmond  Production.

  A  synth  orientated  intro  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  programmed  beats  and  battle  a  few  seconds  later  before  introducing  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  onto  the  recording  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard.

  When  tremolo  picking  is  utilized  it  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  while  a  lot  of  the  music  also  adds  in  a  great  amount  of  90's  and  early  2000's  influences.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  some  melodic  chants  also  between  added  in  between  tracks,  synths  also  male  a  return  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  as  the  album  progresses  a  small  amount  of  melodic  riffing  can  also  be  heard.  

  On  this  recording  Tot  aus  dem  Wald  remains  true  to  his  raw,  misanthropic  and  old  school  black  metal  of  huis  previous  release  as  well  as  getting  more  experimental  this  time  around.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  German  and  cover  the  grim  and  gloomy  kingdom  Misanthropic  Germany  along some  pagan  god  worship  and  secret  rituals.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Tot  aus  dem  Wald  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw,  misanthropic  and  old  school  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Helja,  wo  Männer  sterben"  "Fleischpfähler,  ein  kranker  Gaul"  and  "In  krankem  Mondeslicht".  8  out  of  10.

  Tot  aus  dem  Wald  are  a  solo  project  from  Germany  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  old  school  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2020  album  "Kulte  Primitivster  Verehrung"  which  was  released  by  Wolfmond  Production.

  A  very  dark  sounding  intro  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  musical  direction  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  lot  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a r aw  feeling  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

   When  guitar  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style  while  the  music  also  has  a  decent  amount  of  90's  influences  but  also  keeps  it  modern  at  the  same  time.  A  couple of  the  tacks  also  introduces  synths  onto  the  recording  along  with  all  of  the  heavier  songs  sticking  to  a  faster  direction  and  as  the  album  progresses  the  music  also  starts  showing  more  of  an  experimental  style..

  Tot  aus  dem  Wald  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  mostly  fast,  raw  and  misanthropic  sounding.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  German  and  cover  Occultism,  Misanthropy,  Hate  and  Darkness  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Tot  aus  dem  Wald  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  misanthropic  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Lauterer"  "Bringer  der  Zerstorrung"  and  "Brich  die  letzie  Illusion".  8  out  of  10.
