Occultum/In Nomime Rex Inferni/Old Temple/2018 CD Review

Occultum  are  a  band  from  Poland  that  plays  a  satanic  form   of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "In  Nomine  Rex Inferni"  which  was  released  by  Old  Temple.

Drums  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  distorted  reverb  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  while  bestial  growls  can  also  be  heard  briefly  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  angry  sounding  black  metal  screams.

Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style  along  with  the  music  also  sounding  very  modern  as  well  as  some  of  the  tracks  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  as  the  album  progresses  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

Occultum  creates  another  recording  that  remains  true  to  the  satanic  style  of  black  metal  that  was  established  on  the  previous  release,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Occultism  and  Necromancy  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Occultum  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  satanic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Skulls  Instead  Of  Candles"  "Hanged  Man"  and  "Black  Art  Of  Necromancy".  8  out  of  10.

Occultum/Towards Eternal Chaos/Old Temple/2016 CD Review

Occultum  are  a  band  from  Poland  that  plays  a  satanic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  album  "Towards  Eternal  Chaos"  which  was  released  by  Old  Temple.

A  very  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  that  also  have  a  depressive  tone  to  them  at  times  as  well  as  adding  in  deep  growls  while  the  solos  and  leads  stick  to  more  of  a  melodic  fashion  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  sound  very  powerful  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard.

During  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  is  utilized  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid   paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  music  also  brings  in  a  great  mixture  of  both  old  school  and  modern  influences  and  a  couple  of  the  tracks  also  brings  in  a  brief  use  of  melodic  chanting  and  a  couple  of  the  songs  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  there  is  also  a  sample  from  "The  Omen  Pt.#"  on  a  later  track  and  the  whole  album  also  remains  heavy  from  beginning to  ending  of  the  recording.

Occultum  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw  while  also  having  its  melodic  moments,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  occultism,  Left  hand  Path  and  Anti  Christian  themes.

In  my  opinion  Occultum  are  a  very  great  sounding  satanic  black  metal  band  and  if you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "End  Of  the  Light"  "Satan's  Era"  and  "Gehinnom  Gate".  8  out  of  10.
